No Newcastle bid for 'unavailable' Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette has been a long-term target for Newcastle.

Newcastle have not made a formal bid for Alexandre Lacazette after being told that the Lyon striker is not for sale.

Press Association Sport reported that while the Magpies have a long-held interest in the player and are desperate to boost their striking options this month, Lacazette is simply not available.

Reports in France claimed Newcastle had offered more than £18 million for Lacazette, but sources on Tyneside have said that was not the case.

PSG's Laurent Blanc wants 'severe' sanctions on Marseille fans

League authorities will hold a special meeting to discuss the ugly scenes that ocurred during yesterday's Marseille vs Lyon match, one in which the home fans hurled objects on to the pitch.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has called for "very severe" sanctions after crowd trouble marred Marseille's Ligue 1 clash with Lyon.

The match, which finished 1-1, was delayed for more than 20 minutes in the second half as Marseille fans, whose team were trailing at the time, threw objects including glass bottles onto the field.

Blanc said at a news conference reported by L'Equipe: "It's not the first time and we need strong enough decisions to eradicate this.
