West Ham avoided a false start at the London Stadium with a 3-0 Europa League qualifying win over Slovenian minnows NK Domzale on Thursday.

Cheikhou Kouyate scored twice and new signing Sofiane Feghouli opened his account as the Hammers, who left Upton Park at the end of last season, secured a 4-2 aggregate win to reach the final playoff round before the group stage.

Andy Carroll and West Ham could not avoid defeat to Domzale in Slovenia on Thursday.

West Ham endured a chastening 2-1 defeat to minnows NK Domzale in the first leg of their Europa League third-round qualifier in Slovania on Thursday.

Even with England striker Andy Carroll at the spearhead of a strong lineup, the Premier League side came off second-best against a club making their first appearance in Europe.

Havard Nordtveit handled the ball 11 minutes into his Hammers debut and Matic Crnic scored the resulting penalty to put the hosts ahead.

Dario Lezcano of Lucerne banned 8 matches for assaulting referee

Lucerne forward Dario Lezcano can appeal his suspension.

BERN, Switzerland -- The Swiss Football League has banned Lucerne forward Dario Lezcano for eight matches after he assaulted a referee who sent him off.

Lezcano, a 25-year-old from Paraguay, used his forehead to lightly touch the face of referee Fedayi San who had shown him a second yellow card.

The player then pushed the referee's chest, knocking the red card out of his hand.

The incident happened in the 88th minute of a 3-3 draw with Grasshoppers on Sept. 13.
