Leyton Orient avoided a fourth straight Sky Bet League Two defeat as they ground out a 0-0 draw against Barnet at The Hive.

The home side were dealt a blow after half an hour when Shaun Batt was forced off with a leg injury.

And Orient carved out the best chance of the first half when Paul McCallum set up Jay Simpson but his tame shot was straight at goalkeeper Josh Vickers.

Barnet did have the ball in the net seven minutes before the break after a well-worked Luke Gambin corner but it was clearly handled...

Goals from Jimmy Spencer and Ryan Donaldson earned Sky Bet League Two leaders Plymouth a 2-0 win at nine-man Leyton Orient.

It was to prove a baptism of fire for O's interim manager Andy Edwards, who stood in after Andy Hessenthaler was sacked on Monday.

With only 20 seconds on the clock, Orient captain Robbie Weir lunged in with a heavy tackle on Ben Purrington and was shown a red card by referee Charles Breakspear.

On 12 minutes, the table-toppers took the lead when David Goodwillie slipped a free-kick...

Leyton Orient sack Andy Hessenthaler after back-to-back defeats

Leyton Orient have confirmed that manager Andy Hessenthaler has been relieved from his role.

The former Gillingham boss becomes the first managerial departure in the Football League this term following a three-match winless streak that left Orient 14th in League Two with three wins from nine games.

The 51-year-old, who signed a one-year deal during the summer, took over from former player-manager Kevin Nolan for the final five games of the 2015-16 campaign.

Despite a positive start to the season...

Jon Stead struck his seventh goal of the season as 10-man Notts County defeated Leyton Orient 3-1 after a lively second half at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies edged a forgettable first half, with Stead denied twice in the box on 20 minutes, first by a block from Nicky Hunt and then by Alex Cisak's near-post save.

But the home side stepped up a level after the break, scoring twice in quick succession early in the half to go take control of the game.

They went ahead when Jonathan Forte met a fine right-sided...

Tom Eaves' second-half goal proved enough to hand Yeovil Town their first win in six League Two matches as they claimed maximum points from a 1-0 victory at Leyton Orient.

The Glovers broke the deadlock when Otis Khan took a short corner and - with the O's defence slow to react - the ball reached the unmarked Eaves who was left to head home from close range.

The opening half got off to a slow start with little to show for it from either side.

Nathan Smith enjoyed the best opportunity for the visitors...
