Barcelona celebrate their opening goal against Levante.

Barcelona were not at their best but still managed to claim a 2-0 win over Levante to put pressure on La Liga rivals Real Madrid.

Luis Enrique's table-topping side are three points clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid and seven ahead of Real, who take on Granada later on Sunday.

Barca took the lead in the 21st minute when Jordi Alba's cross from the left deflected in off Levante defender David Navarro.

Bottom-of-the-table Levante hit the post through Morales but were unable to find a leveller...

Joan Verdu leaves Fiorentina, joins Levante on free transfer

Joan Verdu has followed Giuseppe Rossi's example by leaving Fiorentina to join Levante.

The 32-year-old midfielder -- a product of Barcelona's La Masia academy -- returns to Spain on a free transfer after rescinding his contract with Fiorentina, for whom he signed in August.

Italian striker Rossi joined Primera Division strugglers Levante on loan last month and has already scored for...

Kevin Gameiro played a starring role as Sevilla climbed to fifth in the Primera Division table following a 3-1 win over bottom club Levante.

Los Blanquirrojos had been in the driving seat from inside the first minute thanks to Gameiro, who then set up Vicente Iborra for a similar start to the second half, as Yevhen Konoplyanka completed the win shortly before time.

Levante had not been completely outplayed, as they briefly clawed it back to 2-1 with a goal from Giuseppe Rossi but Konoplyanka's effort...

Jose Luis Morales scored in both halves for Levante.

Basement boys Levante grabbed a Primera Division lifeline by beating fellow strugglers Las Palmas 3-2 at Ciutat de Valencia.

With new signing Giuseppe Rossi watching on before making a late cameo, winger Jose Luis Morales scored in each half and Deyverson -- sent off at the death -- notched Levante's third.

Eighteenth-placed Las Palmas kept it interesting by twice slashing the deficit through Willian Jose.

A second victory in three games means Rubi's Levante are now two points behind Rayo Vallecano...

Giuseppe Rossi agrees Levante loan from Fiorentina for rest of season

ESPN FC's Stewart Robson talks Giuseppe Rossi's proposed move to Villarreal but admits that his return to the italian national team is still long off.

Giuseppe Rossi is set to join La Liga side Levante on loan from Fiorentina for the rest of the 2015-16 season.

Former Manchester United, Villarreal and Parma attacker Rossi, 28, is to make the move to the Spanish strugglers in a latest bid to try to get back on track a career which has been marked by a number of serious knee injuries.

The news was confirmed in an official statement released by the Valencia-based club, which said the deal was subject to a medical to be carried out upon Rossi's arrival...
