Chile international Eduardo Vargas' second half equalizer handed Tigres a 1-1 away draw with Leon on Wednesday in the first leg of the Liga MX 2017 Apertura quarterfinal.

The result gives second seed Tigres a slight advantage heading into Saturday's second leg in Estadio Universitario, with the away goals rule in place for the Liga MX playoffs.

Vargas received the ball from Jesus Duenas on the edge of the penalty area in the 76th minute and shot low into the right-hand corner of the goal.

Maximiliano Moralez scored two goals for Leon in 2016-17.

New York City FC has signed winger Maximiliano Moralez from Leon as its third Designated Player, the club announced on Wednesday.

The once-capped Argentina international signed a three-year contract with the club.

"I know that the league is growing a lot and we have a lot of great players -- I'm looking forward to playing with players like David Villa and Andrea Pirlo who are two world-class champions who have achieved a lot in their careers," Moralez said of joining his new club.

Minnesota United have agreed a fee with Liga MX club Leon for the transfer of former U.S. international Miguel Ibarra, a source close to the MLS expansion club has confirmed to ESPN FC.

The news was first reported by FiftyFive.One on Wednesday morning.
