Lens' Benjamin Bourigeaud requires hand surgery after attack by own fans

Lens midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud requires surgery on a hand injury suffered when he was attacked by fans of his own team.

Bourigeaud, 21, was out in nearby Arras with former teammate Baptiste Guillaume when the latter was confronted by Lens fans angered by his transfer to rivals Lille.

Bourigeaud attempted to defend his close friend and suffered a fracture to his hand. Coach Antoine Kombouare revealed details of the incident after Bourigeaud missed Le Sang Et Or's goalless preseason friendly...

Former Auxerre coach Guy Roux has heart scare

Legendary French coach Guy Roux has been fitted with a pacemaker after suffering a heart scare.

Roux, 76, achieved iconic status within French football during a 40-year tenure in charge of Auxerre during which he turned the former boys' club team into Ligue 1 champions in 1996, making them -- and himself -- a household name across the country.

Roux, who ended his coaching career in 2005, was rushed to an Auxerre hospital on Wednesday evening and had the pacemaker fitted after feeling unwell at home.

Lens manager Antoine Kombouare is '90 percent' sure he'll step down

Current Lens boss Antoine Kombouare was sacked as PSG manager in late December 2011 after two-and-a-half seasons at the helm of the club.
Antoine Kombouare is set to leave Lens despite havnig a year left on his contract.

Antoine Kombouare is "90 percent" sure he will leave Lens following their relegation from Ligue 1.

The Pas-de-Calais club will definitely finish bottom of the league when the season ends on Saturday, and former Paris Saint-Germain boss Kombouare is not convinced he is the right man to lead a fresh push for promotion.

He told L'Equipe: "In my head, I'm 90 percent leaving, but there is a remaining 10 percent there because I have a year left on my contract.

"There's nothing to say I won't be there...
