Kevin-Prince Boateng to join Las Palmas on free transfer

Kevin-Prince Boateng was available on a free transfer.

Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has agreed terms with La Liga side Las Palmas after being released by AC Milan at the end of last season.

Boateng, who previously had spells with Tottenham and Portsmouth in the Premier League, is set to arrive in the Canary Islands on Tuesday to undergo a medical before being unveiled to supporters at the Estadio de Gran Canaria.

A statement on Las Palmas' official website said: "Las Palmas has reached an agreement with representatives of the player Boateng.

Las Palmas deny reports that match vs. Granada was fixed

La Liga president Javier Tebas said there was no evidence of match-fixing at the time of the Granada vs. Las Palmas game.

La Liga team Las Palmas have strongly denied an accusation aired on Spanish radio that their 3-2 defeat at Granada late in the 2015-16 campaign was fixed.

Las Palmas were already safe when they went to a Granada that was already deep in troubleon April 30 and were 2-0 up inside 12 minutes, only for the home team to come back to win 3-2. That victory formed part of a late upswing in form which saw Granada win three of their last five games and avoid relegation by just a point.

Las Palmas' Mauricio Lemos said he is happy that his career has taken off.

Las Palmas centre-back Mauricio Lemos has said he is proud to be linked with La Liga champions Barcelona amid speculation that the Catalan club have offered €4 million for his services.

Lemos left Uruguayan side Defensor for Rubin Kazan in summer 2015, but joined Las Palmas on loan in January 2016 after barely featuring in the Russian league.

The 20-year-old quickly settled at the Estadio Gran Canaria, playing regularly as Quique Setien's side secured safety in the Primera Division.
