Andrey Arshavin's Kuban Krasnodar deal terminated, considering retiring

Andrey Arshavin joined Kuban Krasnodar after a disappointing second spell at Zenit St Petersburg.

Andrey Arshavin is considering retirement after his contract at Kuban Krasnodar was terminated by mutual consent.

Former Russia international Arshavin, 34, joined Kuban in July but the deal was terminated six months early after making only nine appearances.

Arshavin made his name with Zenit St Petersburg before making a big-money move to Arsenal in 2009, but he struggled to maintain his early form in the Premier League and returned to Zenit, initially on loan, in 2012.

Toni Sunjic joins Stuttgart from Kuban Krasnodar on three-year deal

Stuttgart have signed Bosnia-Herzegovina international Toni Sunjic on a three-year deal from Kuban Krasnodar.

Sunjic, 26, replaces Germany international Antonio Rudiger, who was transferred to Roma earlier this month.

The defender has won 14 caps for his country and was part of the country's first-ever World Cup squad last summer.

He has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Stuttgart, after having already started six of Krasnodar's 11 games in the Russian season.

Andrey Arshavin exits Zenit after sealing move to Kuban Krasnodar

Andrey Arshavin has moved to Kuban after rarely breaking into Andre Villas-Boas' Zenit squad last season.

Andrey Arshavin joined Russian Premier League team Kuban Krasnodar on Monday after leaving Zenit St Petersburg.

The 34-year-old Arshavin won his third Russian title with Zenit last season but was a fringe player in Andre Villas-Boas' team and departed when his contract expired at the end of the campaign.

He joins a Kuban team which struggled last season with a below-expectations 10th-place finish in the league amid reported financial problems.

Lokomotiv Moscow win Russian Cup, earn Europa League place

Lokomotiv captured their first Russian title in eight years with a 3-1 defeat of Kuban Krasnodar.

ASTRAKHAN, Russia -- Lokomotiv Moscow won the Russian Cup on Thursday, defeating Kuban Krasnodar 3-1 in extra time to lift their first trophy for eight years.

Kuban, which was bidding for the first major title in their history, took the lead in the 28th minute through Vladislav Ignatyev's goal, but a 73rd-minute equalizer from Baye Oumar Niasse took the game to extra time.

Lokomotiv seized control in the added half hour, with goals from Mbark Boussoufa and Aleksei Miranchuk securing the victory.

Michael Laudrup saddened by finish

Michael Laudrup admitted he felt sorry for his Swansea players after seeing them suffer again the agony of conceding a stoppage-time equaliser as they drew 1-1 with ten-man Kuban Krasnodar in the Europa League.
