Dundee United returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership as they saw off struggling Kilmarnock 3-1 at Tannadice to stay third top in the table.

Jackie McNamara's side made up for their 1-0 defeat away to Motherwell before the international break by overcoming Allan Johnston's side thanks to goals in the first half from Nadir Ciftci and Stuart Armstrong, before substitute Aidan Connolly sealed matters in stoppage time.

Manual Pascali equalised briefly for Killie in 38 minutes - but Armstrong...

A stunning first-half performance by Ross County secured their first away win of the Premiership season at Kilmarnock, meaning they are now only bottom of the league table by virtue of goal difference.

The Staggies move level on points with second-bottom St Mirren, whilst Kilmarnock just remain in the top six despite conceding three goals at home for the second game in a row.

Strikes by Graham Carey - via a rebound off keeper Craig Samson - Michael Gardyne and Paul Quinn incredibly gave the Staggies...

Dundee moved into the top six of the Scottish Premiership as they eventually saw off Kilmarnock 3-1 at Rugby Park.

Greg Stewart gave them the lead just prior to the break and the red-hot David Clarkson doubled the advantage soon after the restart.

Alexei Eremenko gave Kilmarnock hope with a great turn and finish but despite their late rally, Dundee sealed the win late on with Stewart's second of the game.

Both sides came into the match in good form so it was no surprise that the teams looked sharp early...

CELTIC 2 KILMARNOCK 0

By Ronnie Esplin, Press Association Sport

Celtic leapfrogged Kilmarnock into fourth place in the Premiership with a 2-0 win over the 10-man Ayrshire side at Parkhead.

Swedish striker John Guidetti scored his fifth goal in seven games in the 35th minute with a 25-yard free-kick awarded when Killie skipper Manuel Pascali's 'last man' foul on Stefan Scepovic earned him a red card from referee Willie Collum.

It was the turning point in a match in which hitherto...

St Johnstone's miserable run of form in the Scottish Premiership continued as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Kilmarnock at McDiarmid Park.

Murray Davidson had put the hosts in front with a controversial opener but two headers in the space of three first-half minutes from Josh Magennis gave the visitors victory.

Magennis failed to convert several opportunities to make it a hat-trick but those missed chances were not punished by Tommy Wright's men, who have now lost five consecutive league matches.
