Kerala Blasters part ways with head coach David James

After a disappointing first half of the Indian Super League (ISL) season -- they picked up just nine points in 12 games and are currently eighth and 11 points off the play-off places -- Kerala Blasters have decided to part ways with head coach David James. This comes on the back of a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Mumbai City on Sunday.

Kerala won just one match -- the season opener at ATK (2-0) while mustering six draws and suffering five losses -- under James this season.

In a press release, Kerala Blasters said that the association was ending by mutual consent. They thanked the coach for the role he played in the team's journey through his tenure, which started in January 2018 and covered the latter half of the fourth season of the ISL and this half of the fifth season.

"The club would like to thank David for his efforts towards the team and wishes him all the very best in his career," said Kerala Blasters CEO Varun Tripuraneni.

James said: "I would like to thank the management, players and all staff for their support during my stint with the club. I wish them the very best for the future. The fans here have been amazing and I'd like to thank them too for a memorable experience."
