Gent 's Sven Kums wants to stay put this season after Belgian award win

Sven Kums has been linked with a move to Fiorentina.

Gent captain Sven Kums says he will not be leaving the club in January after being voted the Belgian Pro League's Player of the Year for 2015.

Kums, 27, was named as the clear winner of the Soulier d'Or award on Wednesday ahead of club teammates Laurent Depoitre and Danijel Milicevic.

A calm and clever central midfielder, Kums returned from a three-month injury layoff last February before Gent were crowned Belgian champions for the first time in their history in May.

Gent suspend striker Benito Raman for homophobic chant

Benito Raman has been suspended indefinitely.

Belgian club Gent have suspended one of their players indefinitely after he aimed homophobic remarks at supporters of a rival club.

Following Sunday's 3-0 win over KV Kortrijk, striker Benito Raman was one of several players to address the crowd through a microphone.

The 21-year-old sparked controversy by chanting a homophobic insult aimed at rivals Club Brugge.

Wolfsburg had 'been hoping' to draw Gent - director Klaus Allofs

Wolfsburg's director of sport Klaus Allofs admitted his side had got the Champions League draw they had been hoping for as they were paired with Belgian side Gent.

Israeli-American Kenny Saief to get U.S. national team call-up - report

Kenny Saief has helped Gent into the Champions League round of 16.

Israeli-American midfielder Kenny Saief has been told to expect a call-up to the United States national team soon, according to a report in Israel.

A U.S. soccer spokesman confirmed to MLSsoccer.com on Thursday that the federation has scouted the Florida-born Saief, who has made five Champions League appearances for Belgium side KAA Gent this season.

Saief, 21, had previously featured for Israel's youth national teams.
