Inter Milan chief defends January transfer spending, backs Luciano Spalletti

Technical director Walter Sabatini defended Inter Milan's decisions in the January transfer window.

The technical coordinator of the Suning Group, which owns Serie A club Inter Milan, has defended the Chinese company for their investments in the January transfer window.

Only Lisandro Lopez and Rafinha arrived last month to a side that have slipped out of the top four and risk missing out on Champions League football.

Brian McBride assesses the latest transfer rumours surrounding Lionel Messi, Mauro Icardi, Marco Asensio and more.

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has said Mauro Icardi is happy and denied speculation that his recent absence is due to disillusionment at the club.

Icardi has missed three games with a knee injury, but there have been reports that he is frustrated after a run of one win in 10 Serie A fixtures saw Inter drop out of title contention and risk missing out on a top-four finish.

But Ausilio said that was not the case, with both the player -- who has only two goals in his last seven games...

Luciano Spalletti on Inter's defeat: 'Not a particularly bad performance'

Inter suffered a 2-0 defeat at Genoa.

Inter Milan's Luciano Spalletti said his side "didn't put in a particularly bad performance" despite a 2-0 defeat at Genoa as their downward spiral continued.

Inter had gone seven Serie A games without a win until ending their skid last weekend with a victory over Bologna, only to be dealt another setback on Saturday.

But Spalletti tried to put a positive spin on the result, saying only Inter's confidence was lacking.

"The team didn't put in a particularly bad performance tonight," Spalletti told...
