Hearts, Kotoko falter on opening weekend

Inter Allies set the early pace in the new Ghana Premier League season as traditional giants Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko faltered to draws on the road.

The new season finally got off the ground on Saturday after two rounds of legal challenges stalled it, and it is Allies who lead on goal-difference after getting off the blocks quickly with a dominant display at home to Bechem United.

Aduana Stars claim Ghana League title

Aduana Stars have won the Ghana Premier League with a game to spare after a 2-1 victory over Elmina Sharks in Dormaa.

Sam Adams scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot late in the game after Rashid Alhassan had cancelled out Benjamin Tweneboah's opener for the visitors.

The result in Dormaa -- along with WAFA's -21 loss in Cape Coast against Ebuasua Dwarfs -- gives Stars a seven-point advantage going into the final round of matches.
