Villarreal sign Argentina forward Cristian Espinoza to five-year deal

Villarreal have signed Argentina under-23 forward Cristian Espinoza for the next five seasons, the club confirmed. 

Defender Aleksandar Pantic, 24, was also sent again on loan for the third season, this time to Alaves. Signed by Villarreal in 2013, Pantic has also had loan spells with Cordoba and Eibar.

Espinoza, 21, is currently playing for the Albiceleste at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and will be presented and join up with the Yellow Submarine in late August.

Pumas kept Liga MX's Copa Libertadores hopes alive with a 2-0 win versus Venezuelan side Deportivo Tachira to secure a 2-1 aggregate success and passage to the quarterfinals.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Pumas' Eduardo Herrera headed home in the 13th minute to bring the hosts level on aggregate. 

With the game seemingly headed to extra time and possibly penalties, Herrera found Ismael Sosa for the Mexican side's second goal to double the lead.

Huracan's Toranzo did not lose toes in bus crash - president

Huracan president Alejandro Nadur has denied reports that midfielder Patricio Toranzo had his toes amputated after the team bus crashed on Wednesday.

Huracan were in Venezuela for the second leg of their Copa Libertadores qualifier against Caracas FC and were travelling to the airport after the game when the brakes on the bus failed, causing it to flip over.

The club's physiotherapist, Sebastian Tartarones, said the bus had "lost its brakes" and slid down an emergency ramp on the Caracas-La Guaira...

A San Lorenzo supporter fell to his death during the team's 3-1 derby victory at home to Huracan on Sunday.

Argentina's Ole newspaper reported that 24-year-old fan Pablo Gimenez fell 50 metres to his death at the Nuevo Gasometro shortly before the end of the match.
