Chris Powell's wait for his first win as Huddersfield manager continues after his side were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Wigan on Tuesday.

The former Charlton boss was denied a first point in charge at the John Smith's Stadium on Saturday after a stoppage-time penalty gifted Middlesbrough all three points.

But the Terriers were not to be denied for a second time as they produced a battling performance to ensure Uwe Rosler's side remain without a win on the road so far this season.

Grant Leadbitter scored an injury-time penalty as Middlesbrough emerged from a fiery clash with a 2-1 win at Huddersfield.

Leadbitter, who also netted a stunning 35-yard free kick in the first half, kept his nerve after Adam Reach was fouled in the box by Tommy Smith to score the winner.

It spared Middlesbrough's blushes after they controlled the second half but seemed set for a draw when Stead equalised with four minutes of normal time remaining.

Top scorer Leadbitter, who has now hit six goals this...

Chris Powell urges authorities to create chances for black bosses

Chris Powell is the only black manager currently working in English football's top four divisions.

New Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell wants English football's governing bodies to do more to create opportunities for black coaches.

The former Charlton boss is currently the only black manger in the top four divisions after replacing Mark Robins at the Terriers helm on Wednesday.

In recent seasons Chris Hughton, Paul Ince, Chris Kiwomya, Keith Curle and Terry Connor have all managed in the Football League but none of them are currently a number one.

Powell believes that any appointments made...

Chris Powell led Charlton to the League One title last season
Chris Powell will be tasked with keeping the Terriers in the Championship this season.

Huddersfield Town have named former Charlton boss Chris Powell as their new manager.

The 44-year-old replaces Mark Robins, who departed the club on the opening weekend of the season following a 4-0 defeat to Bournemouth.

Powell was in charge of Charlton for three years, guiding them to the League One title in 2012, but was sacked in March following a disagreement with new Valley owner Roland Duchatelet.

The former England full-back's first game at the helm will be at home to Middlesbrough a week...

Watford produced a stirring second-half display to score twice after being reduced to ten men with 25 minutes to play to beat Huddersfield 4-2 on a dramatic afternoon at Vicarage Road.

Gabriel Tamas was sent off for the home side 65 minutes in but after that Keith Andrews and Almen Abdi (his second) put Huddersfield to bed.

Prior to that, Troy Deeney and Abdi had seen goals cancelled out by Harry Bunn and Murray Wallace.

It was a little harsh on Huddersfield who started relatively brightly as James...
