Martin Boyle delighted to be playing for Australia: 'I'm extremely proud to represent this country'

Graham Arnold recalls how Martin Boyle came to his attention at Hibs and discusses his outlook for the younger Australian players.
Tim Cahill was given a rousing sendoff by the Australian fans and teammates during his final international appearance.

New Socceroos star Martin Boyle has passed the anthem test with flying colours, and he's still soaring following a huge first week of action for Australia.

Scottish-born Boyle, whose father was born in Sydney, made an instant impression in the Socceroos jersey with his direct running and nose for goal.

He laid on a late equaliser in his debut off the bench against South Korea last Saturday and scored two goals and set up the other in Australia's 3-0 win over Lebanon on Tuesday in his first start.

Jamie Maclaren returns to Suncorp Stadium looking to break Socceroos duck

If anywhere looms as the venue for Jamie Maclaren to notch his first Socceroos goal then Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium is surely the most fitting.

The 25-year-old enjoyed two goal-laden A-League campaigns at the Brisbane Roar, notching 42 goals in 59 appearances in all competitions including many at the Queensland venue.

Yet to hit the back of the net for the national team in six appearances, Maclaren admits it's nice to be back on familiar territory ahead of Saturday's friendly against South Korea.

"I've...

Hibernian move has Mark Milligan loving football again

Mark Milligan couldn't be happier to be finally achieving his ambition of playing professionally in the United Kingdom.

The 33-year-old contemplated retirement after the World Cup in Russia but realised a life-long goal in August when he signed with Scottish Premiership club Hibernian.

After spells in China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, playing in a professional European league has been everything Milligan hoped for.

"I'm loving my football at the minute," Milligan, who has...

Scottish-born Martin Boyle eager to make international debut for Australia

He set foot in Australia for the first time earlier this week but Martin Boyle could be the latest Socceroos debutant come Saturday.

The 25-year-old Scottish-born Boyle has swapped tartan for green and gold and is in the mix to line up for Graham Arnold's men against South Korea in Brisbane.

Boyle, whose father Graeme was born in Sydney, was a part of the national team squad for Arnold's first match in charge against Kuwait last month but was ineligible as he had yet to receive his Australian passport.

Mark Milligan 'joyful and happy' after Hibernian move - Graham Arnold

Graham Arnold could tell over the phone just how much Mark Milligan will be revitalised by his shift to Scotland.

And the new Socceroos coach is optimistic it will breathe new life into his international career, too.

Veteran utility Milligan will finally realise a lifelong dream after signing with Scottish Premiership outfit Hibernian.

The 33-year-old has just about seen and done it all in football but there was one glaring hole on his resume -- a successful stint in Europe with a big club.
