A defensive blunder by Palermo handed Hellas Verona victory on Monday night at the Marc' Antonio Bentegodi stadium.

An own goal from Eros Pisano 13 minutes from time gave the hosts a 2-1 triumph - their first victory of the season.

Franco Vazquez had put the Sicilian outfit ahead in the 18th minute before former Palermo striker Luca Toni equalised from the penalty spot before half-time.

With Palermo looking more dangerous, a misunderstanding between defender Pisano and goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino...

Hellas Verona sign Javier Saviola from Olympiakos

Javier Saviola, center, is on his way from Olympiakos to Serie A and Hellas Verona. He scored 12 goals in 25 games for the Greek Super League squad last season.

Hellas Verona have announced the signing of Javier Saviola from Olympiacos via Twitter.

The 32-year-old former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Benfica forward is due to arrive in Italy on Tuesday morning and will sign for Verona should he successfully pass a medical.

Saviola scored 12 goals in 25 games for the Greek club last season after arriving on a free transfer from Malaga. He also played five times in the Champions League, scoring two goals.

No details have been released about the size of the transfer...

Keisuke Honda got things going with an opening goal for AC Milan in a 3-1 win vs. Lazio on Serie A's opening weekend.

Filippo Inzaghi enjoyed a dream Serie A coaching debut by guiding AC Milan to a 3-1 win against Lazio at the San Siro on Sunday afternoon.

Keisuke Honda put the hosts ahead in the seventh minute before Sulley Muntari doubled Milan's lead before the hour mark. Summer signing Jeremy Menez then made it 3-0 when he earned and converted a penalty in the 64th minute.

Lazio reduced the arrears three minutes later when Milan defender Alex scored into his own goal. The visitors should have made it 3-2 with...

ESPN FC's Steve Nicol reacts to the news of Rafael Marquez's transfer to Hellas Verona.
