Hearts manager Craig Levein was treated at hospital for an unspecified illness.

Hearts manager Craig Levein was taken to hospital on Monday morning but is recovering after receiving treatment, the club said.

It did not disclose in a statement the nature of Levein's illness or when he was likely to return.

Levein, 53, watched Hearts beat Kilmarnock 1-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday for their third win in their first three games.

Manchester United youngster Demetri Mitchell is closing in on a return to Hearts, sources have told ESPN FC.

The 21-year-old played 11 games for the Scottish side during the second half of last season after leaving Old Trafford on loan in January.

He did enough to earn a place in Jose Mourinho's squad for the preseason tour of the United States but after finding opportunities limited at the start of the new campaign, he is set to rejoin Hearts on loan again until the end of the season.

Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair ended Hearts' unbeaten home run as Celtic came from behind to win 3-1 at Tynecastle.

The champions exacted revenge for the 4-0 Ladbrokes Premiership defeat in Edinburgh earlier in the season that ended their historic 69-game unbeaten run, despite conceding an early goal.
