Former Everton and Hearts star Alex Young dies at 80

Alex Young is honoured by a banner outside Goodison Park.

He made 273 appearances, having joined from Hearts in 1960, and scored 87 times before departing for Glentoran in 1968.

Kris Doolan netted his third goal in a week when the striker capitalised on a Lennard Sowah defensive error to give the Jags an early lead.

Cummings scored the winner against the Tynecastle side in a replay at the same stage last season...

Substitute Jamie Walker's missed penalty cost Hearts the chance to move within three points of Rangers as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Inverness at Tynecastle.

The Jambos fell behind to Carl Tremarco's first-half opener but battled back as Arnaud Djoum squared things up after the break.

Walker - left out of the starting line-up presumably to keep him fresh for Wednesday's William Hill Scottish Cup replay with Hibernian - had the chance to seal the win with a quarter of an hour left.

But Owain Fon...
