Luton continued their recent sparkling form with a 2-1 Sky Bet League Two win at Hartlepool.

The Hatters, who began their first Football League campaign for six years with just one triumph in the opening six games, headed into the clash on the back of five wins and a draw.

And they added another maximum-points haul at Victoria Park, with Mark Cullen and Jim Stevenson ensuring Neil Austin's late penalty was a mere consolation.

The hosts enjoyed the livelier start as Charlie Wyke stung the hands of goalkeeper...

Hartlepool climbed off the bottom of League Two with a smash-and-grab 2-1 win at Exeter.

Exeter dominated the first half, but had nothing to show for their efforts. The closest they came was through their impressive England under-20 international Matt Grimes, who twice forced the Hartlepool goalkeeper into good saves.

Hartlepool came closest to breaking the deadlock through Dan Jones, who headed against the crossbar, but it wasn't until the 49th minute that the deadlock was broken.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce's late strike ensured Hartlepool began life after Colin Cooper with a 2-1 Johnstone's Paint Trophy loss to Sheffield United.

Cooper resigned on Saturday as a listless Pools slipped to the bottom of the Football League with a 3-0 defeat to Carlisle.

And despite a brighter showing under caretaker bosses Sam Collins and Stephen Pears, the hosts succumbed to their League One opponents when Campbell-Ryce fired home an 82nd-minute winner after Michael Duckworth's first goal for Pools...

Carlisle moved off the bottom of Sky Bet League Two with a 3-0 win over new basement club Hartlepool.

In a meeting of 22nd versus 24th, it was the visitors who came out on top at Victoria Park thanks to Steven Rigg and Stephen Elliott's first goals for the club, which were added to by a late Mark Beck strike.

The result heaped further pressure on Pools boss Colin Cooper, with his side languishing at the foot of the standings having collected just eight points from 11 games.

Hartlepool and Portsmouth drew 0-0 for the third successive season at Victoria Park after an uninspiring 90 minutes.

Goals were not forthcoming in an end-to-end encounter that saw visiting strikers Patrick Agyemang and Craig Westcarr spurn the best of the few clear-cut chances.

Portsmouth enjoyed the better of a breathless start yet were left to rue their strike force's profligacy as Agyemang and Westcarr each blazed glorious opportunities over.

The hosts improved as the half wore on and created a good...
