Hannover's Bobby Wood during a preseason game against PEC Zwolle.
Hannover's Bobby Wood has been called up by the United States for two friendlies.

United States international Bobby Wood could miss Hannover's game against RB Leipzig on Sept. 15 as he returns from national team duty.

Wood, 25, has won 39 caps and was selected last week by interim manager Dave Sarachan for friendlies against Brazil on Friday and Mexico on Sept. 11.

However, Hannover is not unhappy with the arrangement as it wants him to work on his match fitness.

"We'll see in which shape he'll return," Hannover coach Andre Breitenreiter told Bild. "I won't rule out that he makes...

BERLIN -- Borussia Dortmund twice hit the woodwork but could not score in their first-ever goalless Bundesliga draw against Hannover 96 on Friday.

Dortmund captain Marco Reus twice came close minutes before the break, including when he hit the bar with a shot from a tight angle.

Maximilian Philipp also hit the woodwork after...

Dan Thomas, Kasey Keller and Kate Markgraf discuss Bruce Arena's latest comments and how the USMNT should feel watching the World Cup from home.

United States striker Bobby Wood no longer wants to look back on "the most difficult year" in his career following his loan move from relegated Hamburg to Hannover.

Earlier this week, Wood, 25, joined Hannover on an initial one-year loan with a view to a permanent transfer, after only scoring three goals in 25 appearances for Hannover in all competitions last season.

"It was not a positive year," Wood told reporters of his final year at Hamburg. "It was the most difficult year in my career. I was...

United States' Bobby Wood to stay in Bundesliga after signing for Hannover

Dan Thomas, Kasey Keller and Kate Markgraf discuss Bruce Arena's latest comments and how the USMNT should feel watching the World Cup from home.
MLS Commissioner Don Garber talks about the 2026 World Cup coming to North America and what it means for soccer in the United States.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino is not worried about political interference from United States president Donald Trump.

United States striker Bobby Wood has moved to Bundesliga side Hannover on loan after asking to leave relegated Hamburg.

Hannover will retain the option to sign the 25-year-old Wood on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

"I had very good talks ... and know what the club intends, what kind of football should be played and where I fit in with that. My gut feeling told me it is the right decision," Wood told Hannover's website.

Wood, who has 12 goals in 39 appearances for the U.S. national team...

Hannover taunt Bayern Munich after Champions League loss to Real Madrid

Bayern Munich were left shaking their heads on Wednesday.
Bayern Munich players react after losing their Champions League semifinal first leg to Real Madrid.

Bayern Munich were mocked on Twitter by Bundesliga rivals Hannover after their midweek defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League, following the Bavarians' president Uli Hoeness suggesting his team had a "break" in their 3-0 win against Andre Breitenreiter's team last weekend.

Real went into the first leg in Munich fully rested after almost a week away from the action. The Champions League holders didn't play last weekend while Bayern had to travel to northern Germany for their match...
