Former Hoffenheim boss Markus Gisdol has been named the new manager at Hamburg.

Hamburg have confirmed the appointment of former Hoffenheim boss Markus Gisdol as their new coach, only hours after parting company with Bruno Labbadia.

Gisdol will be officially presented on Monday after signing a contract with the northern Germany side until the end of the season.

According to Hamburg's website, it was Gisdol's choice only to commit until the end of the current campaign and not beyond.

Hamburg dismiss Bruno Labbadia after 18 months in charge

Bruno Labbadia saved Hamburg from relegation in 2015.

Hamburg have sacked Bruno Labbadia following their 1-0 Bundesliga defeat to Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Hamburg will hold a board meeting on Wednesday to discuss the future of coach Bruno Labbadia.
