Everton complete signing of forward Nikola Vlasic from Hajduk Split

Michael Keane believes Everton are benefiting from Wayne Rooney's happiness at being back at his boyhood club.

Everton have signed forward Nikola Vlasic from Hajduk Split on a five-year deal.

Vlasic, 19, who has penned a contract until 2022 at Goodison Park, becomes Everton's ninth signing of the summer, with the Toffees paying a fee of £8 million, which could rise to £10m.

The Croatia international came up against Everton in the Europa League earlier this month and he is looking forward to embarking on his new challenge.

Everton's chances of signing Hajduk Split midfielder Nikola Vlasic received a boost after the teenager was given permission to leave national team duty with Croatia's under-21 side.

Everton are interested in the 19-year-old, whom manager Ronald Koeman got to see first hand in their recent Europa League qualifier, and on Monday Hajduk club president Ivan Kos admitted they could sell their prize asset before Thursday's deadline.

The first leg of Everton and Hajduk Split's Europa League clash had to be momentarily halted due to trouble in the crowd.

Merseyside Police detained one man after trouble flared during Thursday night's Europa League playoff tie between Everton and Hajduk Split at Goodison Park.
