Callum Paterson struck in extra-time to take Hearts through to the next round of the Scottish League Cup after a glut of missed opportunities against Forfar Athletic at Station Park.

Kevin McHattie put the visitors into the lead deep into the second half before Mick Dunlop equalised in a game that should have seen Hearts find the net multiple times.

However Paterson made the difference in the extra half-hour to give Scottish Premiership pace-setters Hearts a 2-1 victory over a side who finished with...

All the goals came in the first half as Forfar crushed Stenhousemuir 4-1 at Station Park.

The Sky Blues were forced into an early change when Chris Templeman replaced Gavin Swankie due to injury, but made good headway when Danny Denholm nabbed a brace inside half an hour, the second from a fine through pass by the substitute.

Kerr Hay soon got in on the act, blasting in the third after Iain Campbell's corner was not properly cleared.

Jon Robertson netted an immediate riposte for The Warriors, but the...

Dunfermline continued their free-scoring start to the season as they brushed aside 10-man Forfar 3-0 at Station Park in the second round of the Petrofac Training Cup.

Both sides went into the tie with 100 per cent records, Forfar having kept four successive clean sheets with the Pars rattling in 22 goals in the same period.

But the contest turned in the 31st minute when Kevin Nicoll was sent off for a last-man tackle on Michael Moffat, who stepped up to convert the resulting spot-kick.

The visitors...

Kevin Nicoll's first Forfar goal set his side on their way to a 4-0 win over former club Albion.

Both had won their opening games but it was Forfar who remained unbeaten thanks to Nicoll, Danny Denholm and substitute Kerr Hay's late double.

Gavin Swankie had an early effort for Forfar saved by Ross Stewart, with the keeper also on hand to stop Bryan Hodge.

Rob Douglas denied Paul Willis at the other end while Alistair Love twice went close for the visitors.

It was Forfar who opened the scoring, though,...

Chris Templeman's second-minute strike was enough to earn Forfar a 1-0 victory at Airdrieonians.

Templeman's header from Danny Denholm's cross was the first goal scored in the SFL this season, with the visitors - for whom Bryan Hodge was impressive - comfortably picking up the points.

Forfar almost added a second in the sixth minute but Hodge's strike was pushed to safety by Neil Parry.

Striker Hodge spurned two more chances before the break and brought another decent stop from Parry just after the...
