Morton leapfrogged Forfar into the automatic promotion places in Scottish League One after a 2-1 victory.

The Ton started well and had two efforts cleared off the line early on as Ross Caldwell and Stefan McCluskey saw shots blocked.

But they went ahead in the 32nd minute when Joe McKee tapped in after Caldwell's header was saved by Rab Douglas.

Forfar levelled in the 66th minute when Danny Denholm latched on to Chris Templeman's long ball and coolly finished.

But the parity was short-lived as Peter...

Gavin Malin's first-half goal proved enough to sink bottom club Stirling as Forfar moved to within a point of League One leaders Stranraer.

The visitors were made to work against a team that has managed only two wins all season but made the breakthrough in the 38th minute when Gavin Swankie pulled the ball back from the byline and Malin was left with a simple tap-in.

Stirling's hopes suffered a further setback just two minutes into the second half when Chris Smith denied Martyn Fotheringham a goalscoring...

Danny Denholm's strike fired Forfar up to second with a 1-0 win over Stenhousemuir.

Denholm cracked in his sixth goal of the season late in the second half to end the Loons' three-match winless run.

Michael Travis could have given them the lead in the first half but his header was too close to visiting goalkeeper Greg Fleming, while Denholm, an early substitute, nodded wide just before the interval.

But Denholm made amends when he swept home Gavin Swankie's pass from close range with 12 minutes remaining.

Stranraer moved six points clear at the top of League One with a 4-2 win at home to Forfar.

The home side came close to opening the scoring in the third minute when Sean Winter fired a shot against a post.

It took until the 34th minute for the deadlock to be broken as Willie Gibson played in Craig Malcom and he fired Stranraer in front with a well-placed shot into the bottom corner.

They looked comfortable when Steven Bell's cool finish made it 2-0, but Forfar were back in it early in the second half...

Alan Trouten netted his ninth goal of the season as Brechin extended their unbeaten run to nine league matches with a 2-0 victory at second-placed Forfar.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Jamie Masson found the top corner from the centre of the penalty area.

Goalkeeper Robert Douglas ensured his side stayed just a goal behind by producing saves to deny Andrew Jackson twice, Robert Barr and Craig Wighton.
