Union Berlin accuse Borussia Dortmund of putting fans at risk

Union Berlin have accused Borussia Dortmund of "amateurish and chaotic organisation" after thousands of supporters were forced through a small, fenced-off area before Wednesday's DFB Pokal clash, with one visiting fan telling ESPN FC: "I feared I would not get out of there."

The match at the Westfalenstadion, which Dortmund ultimately won after a penalty shootout, had to be delayed by 15 minutes as a result of the scenes outside the stadium.

Weidenfeller's heroics keep Dortmund alive in the German Cup

It was the cup drama that was promised on the tin against second division side Union Berlin on Wednesday night, as Borussia Dortmund needed to win on penalties to reach the third round of the German cup after 120 minutes yielded a 1-1 draw.

Wednesday night Borussia Dortmund host 2. Bundesliga side Union Berlin in the second round of the DFB Pokal. Although the German cup is the most realistic chance for the Black and Yellows to win a trophy this season, the focus going into the match will be somewhat diverted to Saturday's big Revierderby against Schalke.

Former Bundesliga coach Sascha Lewandowski has died at the age of 44, police have confirmed.

Bochum police confirmed on Thursday that the former Bayer Leverkusen and Union Berlin coach was found dead in his Bochum home on Wednesday afternoon.

"We are devastated and incredibly sad," Union Berlin president Dirk Zingler said on the club's official website. "Our deepest sympathy belongs to the family and relatives of Sascha Lewandowski."

Bobby Wood has much potential - Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia

Hamburg coach Bruno Labbadia is looking forward to working with U.S. international Bobby Wood.
