RB Leipzig vs. Salzburg in UCL would be 'sporting competition' - Mateschitz

Red Bull co-owner Dietrich Mateschitz has said that should RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg meet in the Champions League it will remain a "sporting competition."

Both clubs were allowed into this season's competition because UEFA's chief investigators could not firmly establish whether soft drinks giant Red Bull had "decisive influence" over both clubs.

UEFA has revealed it allowed both RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg into this season's Champions League because its chief investigator could not firmly establish that Red Bull had "decisive influence" over both clubs.

Integrity rules prevent multiple teams from the same ownership from playing in the Champions League but, despite an early warning by UEFA's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) chief investigator, both clubs were admitted in mid-June after several changes were made.

TNS lose first leg as Salzburg cruise in Champions League second round

The New Saints saw their hopes of Champions League progress dented after a 2-0 away defeat against Croatian side Rijeka in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie.
