Bill Hamid returning to D.C. United on loan after move to Europe

After an early Montreal Impact goal, D.C. United midfielder Yamil Asad converted late Saturday to scrape together a point in a 1-1 draw at Stade Saputo.

D.C. United has struck a deal to re-sign Bill Hamid on loan, less than a year after the goalkeeper left to sign for Danish side Midtjylland.

Hamid, the 2014 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, will sign on loan through the end of the 2019 season, D.C.United said.

With his MLS contract expiring after last season, Hamid opted to test himself in Europe and said he joined Midtjylland over an offer from Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt because he had an opportunity to start.

But that promise never materialized...

Rafael van der Vaart offered 2018 move to Indonesia's Bali United - report

Terens Puhiri turned on the jets as he outran nearly everyone on the opposing team in the Indonesian first division.

Dutch master Rafael van der Vaart could be the latest big name to head to Indonesia.

The 34-year-old, who is on the books of Denmark's FC Midtjylland, is being chased by Bali United, according to Indonesian media outlet, Bolasport.

The club has a strong Netherlands connection. Indonesia's Dutch-born international Stefano Lilipaly is reportedly acting as a go-between with the former Real Madrid midfielder, who has yet to appear in Denmark this season.

Bill Hamid signs for Midtjylland in Denmark after D.C. United farewell

Gonzalo Veron sealed New York's comeback and the No. 6 seed in the playoffs as DC United bid farewell to RFK Stadium.

United States international goalkeeper Bill Hamid signed for Danish side FC Midtjylland on Monday, a day after bidding farewell to D.C. United.

Hamid, 26, who confirmed last week that he would leave MLS for a move to Europe, was pictured signing his Midtjylland contract in an Instagram photo posted by his agency on Monday, although the club has not yet confirmed the signing.

Rafael van der Vaart wants Tottenham return in a coaching capacity

Former Tottenham forward Rafael van der Vaart has told Press Association Sport that he wants to return to the club as a coach.

Van der Vaart spent two seasons at Tottenham, scoring 24 goals in 63 Premier League games, after joining from Tuesday's opponents Real Madrid on deadline day in August 2010.

The former Netherlands international quickly became a crowd favourite at White Hart Lane and has since said he regrets leaving the club to return to Hamburg in 2012.

Rafael van der Vaart signs for Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland

Rafael van der Vaart made 109 appearances for Netherlands.

Former Real Madrid and Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has signed for Danish Superliga side FC Midtjylland on a two-year contract the club have confirmed.

Van der Vaart, 33, had been without a club since leaving Real Betis at the end of last season and spent the summer working with a personal trainer in Amsterdam.

The former Netherlands international had been in the crowd alongside his agent to watch Midtjylland qualifying for the Europa League.
