Matt Hedges has just signed a new four-year deal to stay with FC Dallas.

FRISCO, Texas -- FC Dallas has signed MLS Defender of the Year Matt Hedges to a four-year contract.

Hedges helped FC Dallas win the U.S. Open Cup and the Supporters' Shield, which goes to the team with the best record in the regular season. FC Dallas lost to Seattle in the Western Conference semifinals.

Toronto FC's Sebastian Giovinco was named to the MLS Best XI on Monday after being controversially left out of the MVP finalists last month.

FC Dallas' Oscar Pareja named MLS Coach of the Year over Mastroeni

MLS Coach of the Year Oscar Pareja reflects on what it means to him to coach FC Dallas.

Oscar Pareja was named MLS Coach of the Year on Thursday after leading FC Dallas to the club's most successful season.

Pareja won with an average of 34 percent of the vote, barely edging out Colorado's Pablo Mastroeni, who finished just under 33 percent.

The Colombian won both the player and media vote, while Mastroeni led among club management. New York City FC's Patrick Vieira was third with nearly 16 percent of the vote.

Dallas picks up 10 contract options, including Hedges, Barrios and Urruti

Matt Hedges has been with FC Dallas since 2012.
 

FC Dallas has announced that contract options have been exercised on 10 players, while seven others have not had their deals renewed.

2016 MLS defender of the year and U.S. international Matt Hedges, as well as Dallas' joint-leading scorers last season, Michael Barrios and Maxi Urruti, were among those whose options were picked up.

Also set to stay at Toyota Stadium are Tesho Akindele, Maynor Figueroa, Timo Pitter, Colin Bonner, Aaron Guillen, Jesse Gonzalez and Chris Seitz.
