FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele gets MLS Rookie of Year honors

ESPN FC's Paul Mariner makes his choices for MLS MVP, coach of the year and team of the year.

FC Dallas forward Tesho Akindele was named Major League Soccer's 2014 Rookie of the Year on Monday, after a season that saw the 22-year-old move from NCAA Division II play to national team consideration in both his native Canada and the United States.

Akindele finished the 2014 regular season with seven goals and three assists, starting 18 games and appearing in 26 contests. Akindele went on to score the opening goal in FC Dallas' 2-1 playoffs win over the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Western Conference...

FC Dallas nab goalkeeper Dan Kennedy in MLS' Chivas USA dispersal draft

Former Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy will join FC Dallas next season.

FC Dallas selected goalkeeper Dan Kennedy on Wednesday with the top pick of Major League Soccer's dispersal draft, which allowed teams to select players from defunct side Chivas USA.

Seven former Chivas players were selected in the draft, while 13 teams decided to pass.

Clubs acquiring players through the dispersal draft take on the players' existing contract with Chivas USA for 2015 and exercise all options. Those Chivas players not selected will be available in the league's re-entry draft or waiver...

Seattle Sounders advanced to the Western Conference final after defeating FC Dallas on aggregate.

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Sounders advanced to the Major League Soccer Western Conference finals for the second time in club history despite playing to a 0-0 draw with FC Dallas in the second leg of the conference semifinals on Monday.

The two-legged series finished level at 1-1 on aggregate, but Seattle moved on thanks to its away goal in the first game in Dallas. Away goals were implemented as a tiebreaker this year.

The Sounders were able to avoid the perils of the last two Supporters' Shield winners...
