A Robert Lewandowski goal ended the resistance of rock bottom Cologne as Bayern Munich extended their Bundesliga lead to nine points with a 1-0 win.

With Bayern having dropped points in only four games this season and Cologne managing just three points and no victories from their first 15 games, this was a total mismatch on paper.

But Cologne head coach Stefan Ruthenbeck had vowed his players would not "stand in front of a big beast like a little mouse," and they took away a lot of respect, if no...

Cologne and Freiburg managed to get the game played despite heavy snow.

Two penalties in the final minutes of the match saw winless Cologne capitulate as they threw away a 3-0 lead to lose 4-3 at home to fellow relegation battlers Freiburg on Sunday.

Kickoff in Cologne was delayed by half an hour due to a snowstorm that continued as the game got underway.

Ground staff managed to clear snow from the pitch markings, which were then painted red to ensure they were visible. But they forgot all about the penalty spot -- which caused referee Robert Kampka big problems...

Cologne appoint Armin Veh as managing director

Armin Veh joins struggling Cologne as they seek to revive their fortunes.

Cologne appointed former Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt coach Armin Veh as managing director on Wednesday, filling the job left vacant by Jorg Schmadtke's departure in October.

The struggling club said that the 56-year-old Veh, who led Stuttgart to the Bundesliga title in 2007, signed a contract through June 2020.

"I see this as a major challenge and opportunity to make something happen at this fascinating traditional soccer club," said Veh, who has also coached Hamburg and had a dual role as...

Boss Peter Stoger leaves struggling Cologne by mutual consent

Peter Stoger guided Cologne back to the Bundesliga and then into the Europa League.

Cologne have parted company with coach Peter Stoger by mutual consent after picking up only three points in the Bundesliga this season.

The club, who qualified for the Europa League last season, have drawn three and lost 11 of their league matches, leaving them eight points adrift of second-bottom Werder Bremen.

Stoger was appointed in the summer of 2013 and guided the club back to the top division, leading them to fifth place last season.

In a statement on their official website, Cologne said under-19s...

Cologne and Peru striker Claudio Pizarro lands Disney movie role

Restricted to just four appearances for Cologne this season, veteran striker Claudio Pizarro has apparently found a part-time job to keep himself amused.

The 39-year-old Peru international has landed a supporting voiceover role in the German-language version of Disney's latest animated offering, "Coco."

The movie tells the story of a young Mexican boy who gets draw into the netherworld during his country's Day of the Dead celebrations.

Pizarro plays the role of a skeleton who wants to watch a football...
