Newly-promoted pair Paderborn and Cologne extended their unbeaten starts to the campaign with a goalless draw on Saturday.

The two teams had both won one and drawn one of their opening two Bundesliga fixtures and were happy not to lose that proud unbeaten record at the Paderborn Arena.

The hosts had the better chances, but Cologne kept a clean sheet for the third game in a row to pick up another point towards survival.

Elias Kachunga was Paderborn's most dangerous player once again, and he went close...

Cologne picked up their first win of the season at Stuttgart whose fans made their dissatisfaction clear to coach Armin Veh.

Yuya Osako scored his first goal in the Bundesliga to give Cologne the lead midway through the first half, and Anthony Ujah added a second before half-time.

Stuttgart's response was insufficient with the fans venting their anger at the prospect of another season of struggle, this time under the guidance of the coach who led them to their last Bundesliga title seven years ago...

A crowd of 50,000 at the Mungersdorfer Stadion watched Cologne play out a goalless draw with Hamburg on their return to the top flight.

Chances were at a premium in what seemed more like a pre-season warm-up match than the first appointment of what could be a long and hard season for both sides.

Hamburg started brighter with Cologne taking a while to shed their fears following two seasons in the 2. Bundesliga, but their response in the second half did not herald a winner.

In the pouring rain, which...

Lukas Podolski drops Cologne hint

Arsenal trio Per Mertesacker, Mesut Ozil and Lukas Podolski with the World Cup.

Lukas Podolski penned his name in the golden book of the city of Cologne on Wednesday, telling several thousand fans that he had won the World Cup for them.

The Arsenal forward returned to his birth city after Germany's World Cup triumph in Brazil to a hero's welcome. He was greeted by the city mayor in front of approximately 3,000 fans outside the City Hall, where he signed his name in the Goldenes Buch, an honour usually reserved to visiting dignitaries.

His name now appears alongside those of...

Cologne break Lukas Podolski vow

Lukas Podolski left Cologne for a second time in 2012 following the club's relegation from the Bundesliga.

Cologne have handed the No. 10 shirt to forward Patrick Helmes -- two years after announcing that the number would be retired until Lukas Podolski ended his career.

Podolski, who grew up in Cologne, began his career with the club and returned in 2009 after a disappointing three-year stint with Bayern Munich.

In 2012, though, he left the Billy Goats for a second time, joining Arsenal in a deal worth 12 million euros after Cologne -- at the time in serious financial trouble -- were relegated to the...
