Chelsea target Baba Rahman closing in on move from Augsburg

The ESPN FC crew react to news that Chelsea are reportedly in talks with signings Augsburg left-back Rahman Baba.

Augsburg coach Markus Weinzierl says he wants Baba Rahman's future to be resolved sooner rather than later as Chelsea close in on the left-back.

Rahman, 21, did not feature in Augsburg's 5-0 friendly victory over Toulouse on Saturday and, although his absence was put down to "muscular problems," Weinzierl acknowledged that the Ghana international has been unsettled by the speculation.

Chelsea expect to complete the signing of Augsburg left-back Abdul Baba Rahman before the Community Shield against Arsenal next month, club sources have told ESPN FC.

Rahman, 21, is Jose Mourinho's first choice to replace the outgoing Filipe Luis, who is set to return to Atletico Madrid for £11 million just a year after moving to Stamford Bridge.

Personal terms have already been agreed with the Ghanaian, whose young age underlines Mourinho's attempts to build for the longer term.
