A stunning first half from Falkirk put Cowdenbeath to the sword as they romped to a 6-0 win.

The Bairns took the lead in just the fourth minute when David Smith sent in a low ball from the right which was flicked in by Rory Loy for his third goal of the season.

Smith doubled the lead 15 minutes later when his free-kick from the left drifted beyond Robbie Thomson in the Cowdenbeath goal.

Loy turned provider after the half hour as Alex Cooper slotted in via the left-hand post before Peter Grant followed...

Falkirk were held to a goalless draw at home by Livingston, who climbed off the bottom of the Scottish Championship table.

The Bairns dominated the first half but could not find a breakthrough. Blair Alston threatened early on and Rory Loy was unable to convert a couple of half chances, before Darren Jamieson made a superb double save after 11 minutes.

The Livingston goalkeeper denied Alex Cooper as he went through one-on-one and then quickly got to his feet to block David Smith's follow-up.

Goals by Andy Dowie, Gavin Reilly and Mark Kerr handed Queen of the South a comfortable 3-0 win over Falkirk at Palmerston Park.

Dowie broke the deadlock in the 38th minute with a header from a Kerr corner - his first league goal of the season.

Reilly doubled their lead four minutes later with a right-footed finish from John Baird's delivery.

Falkirk manager Peter Houston made three substitutions in the second half to try and get his side back in the game.

But Queens sealed the win when Kerr added a...

Dean Shiels marked his first Rangers start of the season with the crucial second goal as the Light Blues came from behind to claim a 3-1 League Cup third-round win over Falkirk.

The Bairns took a fifth-minute lead at the Falkirk Stadium when former Ibrox youth Rory Loy pounced on a mistake by visiting goalkeeper Steve Simonsen to score.

But the lead lasted barely 90 seconds as Bairns midfielder Owain Tudur-Jones turned a Stevie Smith cross into the roof of his own net.

That left it to Northern Irishman...

An own goal by Chris Higgins seven minutes from time denied Queen of the South the chance to end a turbulent week on a high after a 1-1 draw at Falkirk.

The Doonhamers were this week rocked by the resignation of manager Jim McIntyre, who took over at Ross County.

Midfielder James Fowler was placed in charge for the game and saw Gavin Reilly - earlier denied by a fine save from Falkirk goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald - put his side in front with 20 minutes left.

But their hopes of victory were dashed late...
