Veteran defender Nicolas Seube believes Caen's successful battle for Ligue 1 survival shows the Normandy club can evolve at the top level.

Caen won their survival fight after taking five points from their last three games - including a 3-0 home victory over second-placed Lyon - and 35-year-old Seube says they can build on that for next season.

``I am happy for the club, for our employees, for players who are new to this,'' Seube told the official Caen website ahead of their final game of the season,...

LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah has been banned for four months by FIFA in a breach-of-contract case.

Evian's relegation to Ligue 2 was confirmed on Saturday night as a late penalty from Max Gradel condemned them to a 2-1 defeat at home to St Etienne.

Evian needed victory to retain any hope of avoiding the drop, but, while Mathieu Duhamel's strike three minutes before the break cancelled out Gradel's opener, the Ivory Coast forward scored from the spot with 10 minutes left.

Evian then had Kassim Abdallah sent off in the final seconds.

The result leaves Evian, who have won only once in their last 10...

Reims won 3-2 at Evian on Saturday night to clear up the bottom of the Ligue 1 table.

Had Evian got home, they would have leapfrogged Reims out of the only unconfirmed place in the drop zone but, an away win means there are four points separating Evian and the rest with two games to go.

Their fate is not yet sealed, but Reims can expect the gratitude of the likes of Toulouse, Nice, Lorient and Caen for putting real daylight in the table.

Evian had led, Gilles Sunu and Mathieu Duhamel cancelling out...

Lacazette scored his 27th goal of the campaign to send Lyon above PSG.

Ligue 1 top-scorer Alexandre Lacazette continued his superb form for Lyon, who took top spot in the table with a 2-0 win over Evian.

Lacazette, who claimed the club's scoring record last time out against Reims, made it 27 goals for the season with a 38th-minute penalty after Clement Grenier had given Lyon the lead.

Lyon are top of Ligue 1 only thanks to a better goal difference to Paris St Germain, who play Nantes late on Sunday, though Hubert Fournier's side had played down title ambitions before...
