Evian moved off the foot of the Ligue 1 table after ending a three-game losing run with a 1-0 victory over Nice.

The Thonon-les-Bains-based club had not scored during their recent bad slump but they moved out of the bottom three thanks to Daniel Wass' superb free-kick.

The Denmark international found the top corner in the 76th minute to condemn Nice to back-to-back defeats, following their loss to Lyon last week.

It was the home side who started brightly as some inventive play between Cedric Barbosa...

St Etienne picked up a point on the road at Lille in a 1-1 draw but it was a game either side could have won.

Knowing a win could have taken them to within two points of Ligue 1 leaders Marseille, St Etienne initially fell behind to Michael Frey's 16th-minute opener.

They levelled through Max Gradel on the hour and then, after watching Divock Origi miss from the penalty spot, Gradel did the same.

In the end a draw was perhaps a fair reflection of a thrilling game which saw both sides enjoy several chances.

Nantes made it six games unbeaten in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 win away at Evian on Saturday night.

Jordan Veretout netted from the penalty spot three minutes before the break and Yacine Bammou completed the scoring 15 minutes from time.

Bordeaux's loss to Paris St Germain allowed Nantes to move up to third in the table while Evian remained just one point off the foot of the table.

It was the home side who threatened first with Daniel Wass chesting the ball to the onrushing Yeltsin Tejeda but his first-time...

Joao Moutinho opened the scoring from the penalty spot.

Monaco put their indifferent form this season behind them to record a 2-0 win over Evian.

Three wins from nine had left them in the bottom half of the table and in desperate need of some consistency, and they will hope this win can be the start of that process.

They could not have wished for a better start with Joao Moutinho scoring a penalty inside the first minute and then wrapped things up through Yannick Ferreira Carrasco in the second half.

The early penalty was just what the hosts needed and...

Evian moved out of the danger zone as they claimed their third straight win with a comfortable 3-0 Ligue 1 victory over Metz at the Parc des Sports on Saturday night.

Following an uneventful first half, Cheick Doukoure put through his own net to hand the hosts the lead after the break before Daniel Wass doubled their advantage with a penalty and Gianni Bruno completed the scoring with 10 minutes to go.

The victory moves Pascal Dupraz's side out of the relegation zone and up four places into 15th while...
