Deportivo La Coruna are one point above the relegation zone after they were held to a goalless draw at home by Espanyol.

The Galicians created more chances than the visitors although perhaps the clearest opportunities fell to the Catalans, but Depor goalkeeper Fabricio and his opposite number Kiko Casilla produced strong displays to keep the score goalless.

Victor Fernandez's side are now in 16th and one point above Levante, who are in the bottom three behind 17th-placed Almeria on goal difference.

Atletico Madrid were unable to reclaim third place in the Primera Division after being held to a goalless draw at Espanyol, although Diego Simeone's side played the entire second half with 10 men.

Atletico were the better side even after defender Miranda was shown a straight red card for an elbow, and they were only denied a late winner by some fine goalkeeping by Kiko Casilla.

Although Atletico did well to stay in command of the game after Miranda was dismissed, this was their third straight draw...

A mistake by Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla proved to be costly as it set up Sergio Canales for the only goal of the game which saw Real Sociedad win 1-0 at Anoeta on Sunday.

Casilla's clearance in the 38th minute fell directly into the path of Canales, who gratefully accepted the gift and put David Moyes's side ahead.

It proved to be the decisive goal as despite an entertaining game, neither side was able to find the target again.

The result lifted La Real to 11th place in the overall Primera Division...

Neymar scores twice as Barcelona reach Copa del Rey final

Neymar scored early and late to help Barcelona see off Villarreal.

Neymar scored twice as Barcelona advanced to the Copa del Rey final with a 3-1 win in their second leg at Villarreal.

Barcelona won 6-2 on aggregate and will play Athletic Bilbao in the final on May 30.

Neymar opened the scoring in the third minute by tapping home a perfectly lofted entry pass from Lionel Messi.

Villarreal equalised on the night through Jonathan Dos Santos six minutes before half-time. Jaume Costa's cross from the left sailed over defenders and fell to Dos Santos at the far post.
