Rayo Vallecano slumped to a third straight Primera Division defeat as Espanyol captain Sergio Garcia inspired his side to a 3-1 victory at Campo de Futbol de Vallecas.

Garcia opened the scoring in the ninth minute, punishing a Rayo mix-up at the back with a well-taken finish, before Leo Baptistao's close-range effort just prior to the interval drew things level.

The visiting skipper then provided the cross from which Lucas Vazquez converted a header in the 76th minute.

The death of a Deportivo La Coruna fan in fighting with Atletico Madrid fans before a match on Nov. 30 has led to a push to break links between radical supporters groups and clubs by eliminating all forms of anti-social behaviour from the sport.

Three Points: Barcelona vs. Espanyol

ESPN FC's Alejandro Moreno, Shaka Hislop and Craig Burley are joined by Sid Lowe to discuss Barcelona's imbalance since Luis Suarez's return, as problems seem to occur connecting the midfield to the front three.

1. Messi to the rescue (again)

Things were looking rocky for Barcelona at 1-0 down midway through the first half. Barca's first shot on goal did not come until 22 minutes in, as Xavi Hernandez's drive flew well over the net. Espanyol's plan was working well; the visitors could have even gone further ahead, and a derby embarrassment was looking quite possible.
