Valencia continued their excellent start to life under coach Nuno Espirito Santo with a dominant 3-1 win over Espanyol, who will be worrying about their prospects in the Primera Division this season.

Pablo Piatti finished off a cut-back from Rodrigo Moreno to put the hosts in front with just eight minutes gone, and second-half goals from Dani Parejo and Paco Alcacer finished off a sorry Espanyol side, although Sergio Garcia did manage to score a late penalty for the Catalans.

Valencia now have seven...

David Lopez joins Rafael Benitez's Napoili from Espanyol

ESPN FC's Gab Marcotti discusses the angst in the Serie A regarding the competitiveness of the league.

David Lopez has made the move to Napoli from Espanyol after completing a medical and putting pen to paper on a five-year deal at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday.

Rafa Benitez's side agreed undisclosed terms for the Espanyol academy graduate on Saturday, but they have now formally confirmed Lopez as a Napoli player.

"I'm happy to be in Naples, an important club with a wonderful audience,'' he told the club's official website.

Napoli club president Aurelio De Laurentiis also used Twitter to make his...

Sevilla produced a convincing performance away to Espanyol to pick up their first win of the season.

Goals from Carlos Bacca and Vicente Iborra in each half had put Unai Emery's side in command but Christian Stuani put the Catalans back in the game and set up an exciting finish.

The Europa League champions held on, though, and could even have extended their lead late on.

Sevilla turned up in Barcelona looking eager to compensate for dropping points late on to Valencia in their first league game of the...

Sergio Garcia scored the latest of late equalisers to earn 10-man Espanyol a point from a 1-1 draw at Almeria.

Francisco Rodriguez's Andalusians were the better side throughout but struggled to put countless chances away, with Fernando Soriano the only man able to get the ball past resilient visiting goalkeeper Francisco Casilla.

Espanyol were forced to close ranks when Anaitz Arbilla was sent off midway through the second half and not even a floodlight failure could provide the outside distraction...

Espanyol want Kiko Casilla resolution

Kiko Casilla has gone from strength to strength at Espanyol.

Espanyol president Joan Collet has admitted to frustration at Real Madrid's stalling regarding goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.

Former Madrid youth keeper Casilla joined Espanyol back in 2007 but Los Blancos retained a 50 percent share in his ownership and some control over his future.

Having impressed over recent seasons in the Espanyol first team, the 27-year-old -- believed to have a 20 million euro release clause in his contract -- has been linked with a move to Arsenal  this summer. But with only...
