Rayon Sports sound Enyimba battle cry

Rayon Sports are determined to win away in Nigeria and eliminate Enyimba from the CAF Confederation Cup, according to coach Roberto Oliveira Goncalves.

The two sides played out a 0-0 draw in the first leg of their quarter final in Kigali on Sunday, and Goncalves is confident that they can get over the line in the return leg on September 23.

"My boys played well although we failed to achieve the win we wanted while playing at home," Goncalves told KweséESPN, "but we can win in Nigeria.

Enyimba wary of Rayon Sports in Confederation Cup quarterfinal

Nigeria's Enyimba will take on Rayon Sports of Rwanda in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal tie in Kigali on Sunday without defensive stalwart Mohammed Farouk.

Farouk will serve a one-match suspension after collecting two yellow cards, a blow to coach Usman Abdallah as he seeks to return to Aba with a handy advantage ahead of the second leg a week later.

Enyimba will be favourites for the tie, but Abdallah is wary of leaving themselves too much to do in the second...

Rayon Sports eyeing big goal haul vs. Enyimba

Rayon Sports president Paul Muvunyi is confident that his side can eliminate Enyimba in their CAF Confederation Cup quarter final, and is confident the Rwandan side can rack up a big goal haul against the Nigerians.

Rayon became Rwanda's first club to reach the knockout stages of a CAF competition when they defeated Young Africans of Tanzania to finish second in their group behind USM Alger.

They've progressed to a double-header against Enyimba, with the two sides set to meet on Sunday at the Stade...

Could Enyimba's home return boost Nigeria's continental prospects?

Enyimba are Nigeria's lone hope of returning to the top 12 of the African football rankings and restoring their two spots for each of CAF's continental competitions.

Qualification to the quarter finals of the Confederation Cup will earn the country at least 10 points on those rankings, and some daylight from the chasing pack.

It is this, more than anything else, that makes next week's final group game against group leaders CARA Brazzaville of such vital consequence, not just to the People's Elephant,...

Raja crush ASEC to take charge of Confederation Cup group

Morocco international forward Zakaria Hadraf scored twice as Raja Casablanca moved to the top of their CAF Confederation Cup Group A with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Ivorian side ASEC Mimosas on Sunday.

Mahmoud Benhalib had opened the scoring for Raja, before Hadraf added two more first half goals to set the side on their path to the quarterfinals. Benhalib grabbed his second with a penalty just past the hour-mark.

In the other match in the pool, striker Jean-Marc Makusu scored twice as DR...
