Jay Doyle netted the winner as East Stirling beat Clyde 1-0 at Ochilview Park to lift themselves from the foot of the Scottish League Two table.

The first period was a cagey, goalless affair, although the visitors' Euan Smith tested goalkeeper Richard Barnard on several occasions as the half wore on.

Enjoying significantly more possession for most of the game, the away side would have considered themselves on top, but fell behind on 79 minutes as striker Doyle finished from close range after an assist...

East Fife bounced back from last week's defeat to Albion with a comfortable 3-1 win at home to lowly East Stirling.

Striker Jon McShane opened the scoring for the hosts when he tapped in a Kevin Smith corner.

Smith added a second on the stroke of half-time after his shot took a wicked deflection which left East Stirling goalkeeper Richard Barnard stranded.

The game was wrapped up midway through the second half when midfielder David Maskrey side-footed home from close range.

East Stirling gained their first points of the League Two campaign with a 2-1 win against Elgin at Ochilview Park.

The home side opened the scoring midway through the first half when defender Chris Townsley converted a header from a corner.

After wasting a succession of opportunities to increase their lead, David McKenna put East Stirling 2-0 up in comical fashion after 66 minutes, robbing Elgin keeper Michael Fraser of possession and walking the ball into an empty net.

Montrose banished the ghosts of two early cup defeats at Links Park with a confident 4-1 victory in their first league outing against East Stirling.

Defender Alan Campbell set the example by opening the scoring with a left-footed strike into the roof of the net, picking up the loose ball from a set-piece 36 minutes in.

Three minutes into the second half Terry Masson doubled the lead, collecting Scott Johnston's pass before unleashing a fierce shot into the top-left corner.
