East Fife beat Dumbarton 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra-time in the first round of the Scottish League Cup at the Bayview Stadium.

The first half was an evenly-matched contest with Nathan Austin firing wide for the hosts after 20 minutes, while home goalkeeper Ryan Goodfellow saved efforts from Jamie Lindsay and Garry Fleming as the Championship side tried to break the deadlock.

Gary Naysmith's League Two side came out with a renewed energy after the break, though, and went ahead...

Falkirk struck twice in injury time to snatch a dramatic 3-1 victory over plucky East Fife in the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup.

Bob McHugh snaffled a rebound and John Baird then smashed in a shot off the bar - both with 90 minutes on the clock - as the Championship side avoided being taken to extra time by the League Two outfit at Falkirk Stadium.

The Bairns had started superbly, taking the lead after just two minutes as Peter Grant headed home from a Craig Sibbald free-kick.

But the Fifers...

Alan Lithgow's third goal of the season earned Stenhousemuir what could be a vital 1-1 Scottish League One semi-final first-leg draw with East Fife.

The Warriors are attempting to retain their League One status against the lower-level Fifers and got off to the worst possible start as Ross Brown drilled a right-footed effort home just three minutes into the game.

Colin McMenamin headed over Josh Watt's cross and Jamie McCormack sent another header wide as they battled to get themselves back on level...

Another double from Kevin Smith helped East Fife cruise past Elgin 3-1.

The forward made it 10 for the campaign with a brace last time out at Berwick and he picked up where he left off with a goal in the 35th minute for the second successive week - this time a close-range finish into the bottom corner.

And he could have doubled their lead before the break only to head over the crossbar from inside the six-yard box.

The 28-year-old then grabbed his second on the hour mark with a right-footed finish after...

East Fife sealed their play-off place thanks to Kevin Smith's double and Jonathan Page's header in a 3-0 win at 10-man Berwick.

Midfielder Smith struck either side of defender Page's second-half header, which followed soon after Berwick midfielder Paul Currie had been shown a straight red card for violent conduct.

East Fife midfielder Ross Brown's early left-footed effort was brilliantly turned away at full stretch by Berwick goalkeeper Michael Andrews.

Berwick responded through Blair Henderson, who...
