Dundee manager Paul Hartley has urged his team not to underestimate Dumbarton in Saturday's William Hill Scottish Cup fifth-round tie.

The Dark Blues travel to Ladbrokes Championship outfit Dumbarton as strong favourites to overcome Stevie Aitken's side and reach the quarter-finals, but Hartley is taking nothing for granted.

''It's a big game,'' he said. ''We want to send out as strong a team as possible so that we can get into the next round.

''That's what it's all about as far as we're concerned.

A late Kane Hemmings' penalty earned Dundee a share of the spoils in this hard-fought Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Dens Park.

Mark McGhee's Motherwell were on course to move within a point of the Dark Blues thanks to goals in the first-half from Chris Cadden and Stephen Pearson with the hosts having briefly levelled through Paul McGowan.

But Hemmings dashed their hopes as he struck with an 88th minute spot-kick after Cadden had caught Kevin Holt inside the box.

Kane Hemmings continued his goalscoring spree to send Dundee into the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Hemmings took his recent tally to nine goals in six games with a double in a 3-1 victory over Falkirk to earn Paul Hartley's side a trip to Dumbarton on February 6.

Paul Watson levelled two minutes after Hemmings' controversial 39th-minute opener but the former Rangers striker netted from close range on the hour mark before setting up Gary Harkins for the third.

A solitary Adam Rooney striker kept Aberdeen within touching distance of Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic as the Dons took the spoils from a scrappy clash with Dundee.

With the Hoops facing St Johnstone on Saturday, they will have an opportunity to extend the gap at the top to six points once more, but Derek McInnes' side just keep hanging on to their coat-tails.

The Dons looked the more likely winners even from the opening moments of the game and by the interval centre-back Ash Taylor...

Gary Harkins stole the show as Dundee romped to a 4-2 win over 10-man Partick Thistle in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Harkins won an early penalty that was converted by Kane Hemmings, before helping himself to a first-half double.

Greg Stewart was also on the scoresheet for the visitors - who netted all of their goals in the opening 37 minutes - with strikes from David Amoo and Kris Doolan scant consolation for Thistle in the end.

The match went ahead despite heavy snow in Glasgow, with blue lines painted...
