Kane Hemmings struck twice for Dundee to sink struggling St Johnstone in the Ladbrokes Premiership.

Hemmings hit the target in each half as Paul Hartley's side leapfrogged Tommy Wright's St Johnstone in the table with a 2-0 win.

Victory took them to fifth in the table.

Dundee threatened early on when Gary Harkins released Hemmings down the right and his cross was aimed for the unmarked Rory Loy who could not get his head to it.

Minutes later, Greg Stewart's ambitious left-footed shot from Hemmings' lay-off...

Dumbarton and Dundee fought out a 0-0 draw in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup at the Cheaper Insurance Direct Stadium on Saturday.

The Ladbrokes Premiership side were largely dominant but their Championship opponents defended resolutely to earn a replay at Dens Park.

The visitors started the game with real purpose and nearly went in front after just four minutes.

Greg Stewart found room on the edge of the box and fired a crisp left footed strike which cannoned off Jamie Ewings' right hand post,...

A late Kane Hemmings' penalty earned Dundee a share of the spoils in this hard-fought Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match at Dens Park.

Mark McGhee's Motherwell were on course to move within a point of the Dark Blues thanks to goals in the first-half from Chris Cadden and Stephen Pearson with the hosts having briefly levelled through Paul McGowan.

But Hemmings dashed their hopes as he struck with an 88th minute spot-kick after Cadden had caught Kevin Holt inside the box.

Darren O'Dea returned for Dundee...

Kane Hemmings continued his goalscoring spree to send Dundee into the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Hemmings took his recent tally to nine goals in six games with a double in a 3-1 victory over Falkirk to earn Paul Hartley's side a trip to Dumbarton on February 6.

Paul Watson levelled two minutes after Hemmings' controversial 39th-minute opener but the former Rangers striker netted from close range on the hour mark before setting up Gary Harkins for the third.

The tie went ahead at the...

A solitary Adam Rooney striker kept Aberdeen within touching distance of Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic as the Dons took the spoils from a scrappy clash with Dundee.

With the Hoops facing St Johnstone on Saturday, they will have an opportunity to extend the gap at the top to six points once more, but Derek McInnes' side just keep hanging on to their coat-tails.

The Dons looked the more likely winners even from the opening moments of the game and by the interval centre-back Ash Taylor...
