Celtic are within 90 minutes of winning the Scottish Premiership following a comprehensive 5-0 dismantling of Dundee at Parkhead.

Leigh Griffiths' 19th goal of the season -- his 15th this year -- and a strike by captain Scott Brown gave the home side the interval advantage before they turned up the heat after the break.

Midfielder Kris Commons scored the third from the spot in the 71st minute then set up substitute James Forrest to make it 4-0, before midfielder Nir Bitton sealed the convincing win...

St Johnstone boosted their European hopes with a well-deserved 2-0 win over Tayside rivals Dundee at Dens Park.

Tommy Wright's side moved above Dundee United into fourth place thanks to second-half goals from Danny Swanson and David Wotherspoon.

The home side's misery was complete when they had striker Greg Stewart dismissed on the hour.

Dundee were bidding to bounce back from their midweek 2-1 defeat at the hands of Celtic in an attempt to put pressure on the visitors, who were four points above them...

Celtic discarded their treble disappointment to beat Dundee 2-1 and go eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Ronny Deila's side had lost 3-2 to Inverness in the William Hill Scottish Cup semi-final on Sunday and it took a while for them to get going at Dens Park before former Dundee United winger Gary Mackay-Steven opened the scoring in the 32nd minute with a drive.

In the 63rd minute, Virgil van Dijk, like he did against Caley Thistle, fired in a wonderful free-kick for his 10th...

Dundee's Paul McGowan
Paul McGowan has been in trouble with the law before.

Dundee midfielder Paul McGowan has been spared jail following his latest police assault conviction.

McGowan, 27, was placed under a "restriction of liberty order" during a hearing at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Wednesday morning, which confines him to his home between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. for 16 weeks.

He had previously admitted assaulting a police officer and breach of the peace and will have to wear a tag and his punishment will rule him out of two upcoming night fixtures against his former club, Celtic.

St Johnstone defeated Dundee 1-0 at McDiarmid Park to secure a fourth consecutive top-six finish in the Scottish Premiership.

Brian Graham's brilliant first-half finish gave St Johnstone a narrow victory, but the visitors will feel hard done by after they had a good share of the overall play and saw David Clarkson strike the post with a powerful volley.

Despite the defeat, Dundee are almost certain to join the home side in the top six after the split.
