Inverness manager John Hughes refused to snipe back at his doubters after picking up the PFA Scotland manager of the year award.

Moments after he collected the prize in Glasgow on Sunday night, his club's official Twitter account reminded fans that Hughes had begun the season as the bookmakers' favourite for the Scottish Premiership 'sack race'.

Hughes had taken over from Terry Butcher midway through the previous season and led Caley Thistle to fifth place and the League Cup final but found wins harder...

Dundee United ensured Celtic were crowned Scottish Premiership champions with a hard-fought 1-0 win over second-placed Aberdeen at Tannadice.

The Dons needed to win to prevent Ronny Deila's Celtic from securing their fourth successive title after they had defeated Dundee the previous night.

But Derek McInnes' men could not keep the fight going another week after Robbie Muirhead's 13th-minute goal separated the sides.

United created the first chance inside three minutes when Paul Dixon fed Muirhead,...

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths grabbed a second-half hat-trick against Dundee United to take the Hoops eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a 3-0 win at Tannadice.

Goalkeeper Craig Gordon made a fine save from United's 19-year-old striker Robbie Muirhead in the goalless first half before the former Wolves player struck.

Two minutes after the restart he took a pass from Stefan Johansen before drilling an angled drive past Radoslaw Cierzniak and then beat the United man from...

Adam Rooney's 27th goal of the season allowed 10-man Aberdeen to maintain their slim Scottish Premiership title hopes with a 1-0 victory over Dundee United.

Rooney netted a close-range rebound in the 39th minute at Pittodrie to move Aberdeen five points behind leaders Celtic, who have a game in hand.

United lined up with defender John Souttar playing in front of a back four with dangerman Nadir Ciftci on the left of a bank of four ahead and lacked any threat until they were one down.

But the home fans...

Dundee United finally returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership thanks to Chris Erskine's decisive 70th-minute strike which ended Hamilton's top-six hopes at Tannadice.

Jackie McNamara's team had gone 10 league games without victory going into this match but they ended that sequence as Erskine's well-taken goal gave them a 1-0 win.

It leaves Hamilton now winless in 13 games since Alex Neil left back in early January to be replaced by player-boss Martin Canning as their season plummets.
