Tony Andreu's second-half penalty took Dundee United level on points with Ladbrokes Championship leaders Hibernian after a 1-0 win but Tannadice keeper Cammy Bell was also a spot-kick hero.

After a dull first half, home number one Bell, who made three first-half penalty saves to help the Taysiders beat Dunfermline Athletic in September, pushed away Martin Boyle's spot-kick in the 55th minute.

The save became all the more significant when Hibs defender Liam Fontaine upended substitute Simon Murray in...

Dundee United gave their Ladbrokes Championship title chances a shot in the arm after William Edjenguele earned them a 1-1 draw with Hibernian at Easter Road.

Hibs dominated the first half and James Keatings opened the scoring 10 minutes before the break after a touch of class from Andrew Shinnie ended United's stubborn resistance.

But United improved and centre-back Edjenguele headed an equaliser midway through the second half.

The draw keeps Queen of the South top of the table by a point from Hibs...

Morton reached their first major semi-final in 35 years with a hard-fought 2-1 Betfred Cup win over fellow Championship side Dundee United at Cappielow.

Ton attacker Jai Quitongo blasted the home side into the lead in the 24th minute before defender Thomas O'Ware added a second just after the half-hour mark with a header.

Nick van der Velden reduced the deficit in the 55th minute with a drive but Jim Duffy's side held out for a landmark quarter-final victory.

Morton were beaten 2-1 by Rangers in the...

Dundee United goalkeeper Cammy Bell saves hat trick of penalties

Dundee United may well have beaten Dunfermline 3-1 in the Scottish Championship, but they couldn't have done it without a truly heroic performance from their goalkeeper Cammy Bell.

By the time the half-time whistle sounded, Bell had saved not one, not two, but three Dunfermline penalties to ensure the Tangerines went in at the break 1-0 up.

Bell had already repelled one attempt by the time Simon Murray opened the scoring in the 21st minute, then he thwarted both Nicky Clark and Paul McMullan from...

What Leicester City can learn from a pair of 1980s one-hit wonders

ESPN FC's Alison Bender and Alejandro Moreno discuss Leicester City's upcoming season and what will define success.

Somewhere tucked away in a private nook at his home in Como, Italy, Silvano Fontolan keeps a memento of one of the most unlikely stories in Italian soccer history. In 1984-85, he helped Hellas Verona -- a team representing a town of just 250,000 people -- win the country's top domestic league, Serie A, for the first and only time in their history.

The story is not so different from the one that unfolded at Leicester City in England last season: An unfashionable underdog shattered the sport's established...
