Thomas Mikkelsen scored twice as Dundee United extended their unbeaten run to three games in the Ladbrokes Championship with a 3-0 win over Raith.

It keeps the Terrors comfortably in second place, but still six points adrift of leaders Hibernian.

United went ahead on the stroke of half-time when Scott Fraser's free-kick was turned away by Raith goalkeeper Conor Brennan before Paul Dixon crossed back into the box for Mikkelsen to head home his first goal for the club.

And Dixon was again at the heart...

Ross County booked their place in the last 16 of the William Hill Scottish Cup with a glut of goals against fourth round opponents Dundee United at Global Energy Stadium.

A hectic first half produced six goals, four of them to County, and despite a gallant second round performance from the Championship side, County finished strongly to seal their place in the next round.

County took the lead in spectacular style in the sixth minute when a Martin Woods corner fell for the unmarked Christopher Routis...

Hibernian midfielder John McGinn marked his return from injury with a goal as Hibernian beat Ladbrokes Championship promotion rivals Dundee United 3-0.

The 22-year-old has not featured since going under the knife in mid-November but showed no sign of rustiness as he sealed a dominant display by Neil Lennon's men, who are now four points clear at the top of the table.

Hungry Hibs swarmed all over their nearest challengers throughout the 90 minutes and were in complete control as soon as Jason Cummings...

Dundee United blew their chance of finishing 2016 on top of the Ladbrokes Championship as they lost 1-0 at Dumbarton.

While the Terrors were in action they had been replaced at the summit by Hibernian after their win at Falkirk and Mark Docherty's 27th-minute goal gave them an even steeper uphill task to wrestle back leadership of the division.

Mark Durnan hit the crossbar and a post for Dundee United but that is the nearest they came to an equalising goal and they ended the year with a first defeat...

Dundee United were forced to fight back from behind to sink rock-bottom St Mirren 2-1 and move to the top of the Scottish Championship.

The visitors grabbed a shock 27th-minute lead through John Sutton, but their advantage was immediately ruled out by Scott Fraser's equaliser.

The hosts' pressure paid off in first-half injury time when Simon Murray headed home a Fraser set-piece to put them in front.

Murray, Sean Dillon and Coll Donaldson all had chances to increase the home side's lead as they dominated...
