Mexican club Dorados de Sinaloa post Arnie tweet after relegation

After losing all seven of their opening games to seal the worst ever start to a Liga MX Clausura campaign since the format was installed in 1996, Dorados de Sinaloa were officially relegated from the Mexican top tier this weekend.

Dorados, who boast Pep Guardiola among their alumni, actually had their relegation mathematically sealed at the end of April with three games left to play -- of which they duly won one and lost two, culminating with a 1-0 home defeat against Leon on the final day.

United States international Joe Corona would consider a serious MLS offer

Joe Corona is working his way back into the mix at Club Tijuana, which should only help his national team prospects.
Joe Corona hasn't had the season he'd hope in 2016.

GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- U.S. international midfielder Joe Corona freely admits the Clausura 2016 campaign hasn't been the best of his career, and he would be open to an MLS move if the right circumstance presented itself.

The 25-year-old got the start in Dorados de Sinaloa's 2-1 loss on Sunday to Chivas in Guadalajara. But despite being in the starting XI, Corona says his season hasn't gone as planned.

"It wasn't the season I expected," admitted Corona after the match. "I was working hard to play,...

Liga MX: Ten years on from Guardiola, Dorados again on brink of relegation

Pep Guardiola played for Dorados in 2006 when the team was somewhat harshly relegated.

The last time Dorados de Sinaloa were relegated from Mexico's first division, they could leave with their heads held high. Back in the Clausura 2006, Dorados lost only three of their 17 matches -- less than any other team that season; they boasted a holding midfielder by the name of "Pep" Guardiola; the tournament's leading goalscorer in Sebastian "El Loco" Abreu and had a side that was playing attractive football under Spanish coach Juan Manuel Lillo.

It was only the nuances of the Liga MX's...

Matias Almeyda a hit at Chivas; Monterrey, Dorados sliding into trouble

Chivas Guadalajara upset Club America 2-1 in Saturday's Clasico Nacional at the Azteca.

Pumas replaced Club Leon at the summit of the Liga MX this weekend after 10 rounds of games of the Apertura 2015, while below the playoff race is heating up.

Here are five takeaways from Liga MX matches this past weekend:

1. Coaching change working at Chivas

There was a wave of criticism after Jose Manuel "Chepo" de la Torre was removed as Chivas head coach and replaced by Argentine Matias Almeyda on Sept. 14. But after Saturday's 2-1 win in the Clasico Nacional over bitter rival Club America, the...
