Ex-Dinamo Zagreb chief Zdravko Mamic sentenced to prison for tax evasion

A court in Croatia has sentenced former Dinamo Zagreb chief executive Zdravko Mamic to six-and-a-half years in prison for tax evasion and siphoning off profits from player transfers.

Two other former senior Dinamo officials and a tax official were also jailed for the same offences.

Mamic's brother Zoran, a former Dinamo coach, was given a sentence of four years and 11 months, while Damir Vrbanovic, a senior official in the Croatian Soccer Federation (HNS), was sentenced to three years.

Roma sign Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Ante Coric to five-year deal

Roma have completed the signing of Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Ante Coric on a five-year deal.

The Croatia international joins the Giallorossi until June 2023 for an initial €6 million (£5.2m) fee with a 10 percent selling on fee due -- or €2m (£1.7m), whichever is greater -- to the Croatian champions if he leaves before the end of June 2020.

Croatian prosecutors filed perjury charges against Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric on Friday for his testimony about financial deals with a former Dinamo Zagreb director charged with embezzlement and tax fraud.

The prosecutors in the eastern town of Osijek said Modric gave a false court statement in June about his 2008 transfer from Dinamo to Tottenham. He moved to Real Madrid in 2012.

SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina -- Controversial former Dinamo Zagreb director Zdravko Mamic was shot and injured in Bosnia on Monday, police and media reported.

Croatia's state TV said Mamic was shot in his leg and taken to a local hospital on Monday. It said the injury was not life-threatening. Police were searching for two possible assailants.
