Tottenham rally to win in Cyprus

Roberto Soldado celebrates scoring Tottenham's equaliser on Thursday against AEL Limassol.

Tottenham came from behind to take a 2-1 win in the first leg of their Europa League qualifying play-off against AEL Limassol.

The hosts took a 14th minute lead through Adrian Sardinero and it held until 16 minutes from time, when Roberto Soldado levelled for the Londoners.

Harry Kane then struck the winner with 10 minutes to go.

BATE Borisov escape in final minute

Sergey Krivets was the hero for BATE Borisov as he popped up in the final minute to secure a 3-1 win over Debrecen to book their place in the Champions League playoffs.

The Belarusian Premier League outfit, who lost the first leg of their third qualifying-round clash 1-0, were on their way out of the competition on away goals as 10-man Debrecen almost held out at 2-1 before Krivets' late show at the Borisov Gradski Stadium.

UEFA punish clubs for racist incidents

UEFA president Michel Platini believes the fight against racism is a high priority for the governing body.

UEFA's disciplinary panel has taken action against three clubs following racist incidents during the qualifying rounds for this season's Champions League.

Steaua Bucharest, Debrecen and Maribor have all been hit with partial stadium bans.

FC Chikhura Sachkhere have also been given the same punishment for an incident in the Europa League qualifying rounds.

David Lafata hits hat-rick for Sparta

David Lafata's hat-trick carried Sparta Prague to a 4-2 win over Swedish champions Malmo in the first leg of the Champions League third qualifying round on Tuesday.

Czech champions Sparta fell behind twice at home, but Lafata managed to equalise both times. Lafata already has eight Champions League goals this season, after tallying five in the first leg of the previous round against Levadia Tallinn.
