Broadcaster John Motson given pitch presentation at Crystal Palace

John Motson signed off from his 50-year career behind a microphone with a BAFTA award and an on-pitch presentation by Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson.

Motson received a Special Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to sports broadcasting at the 2018 British Academy Television Awards.

Four hours earlier, the 72-year-old was given a framed programme and a microphone trophy by Hodgson after finishing his final match, in which Palace beat relegated West Brom 2-0.

Wilfried Zaha expected to stay at Crystal Palace despite speculation - Roy Hodgson

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has said he expects to have Wilfried Zaha in his squad for next season.

Former Manchester United winger Zaha played a major role in keeping Palace in the Premier League, with his fine form leading to speculation about his future.

But Hodgson told a news conference: "This is where he belongs. This is his club. He knows how much we and the fans value him.

"I don't blame other clubs for coveting him. He is ours and I still believe he will be when the season begins."
