UCL: APOEL and Copenhagen reach third qualifying round

Andreas Cornelius and FC Copenhagen ended Crusaders' Champions League dreams on Tuesday.

Welsh champions The New Saints bowed out of the Champions League as Cypriots APOEL turned in a powerful second-leg display to book their place in the third qualifying round with a 3-0 aggregate victory.

The sides had drawn 0-0 at Park Hall last week and the Welshmen made it to the break in Nicosia without mishap.

However, Nektarios Alexandrou opened the scoring nine minutes after the restart when his deflected shot eluded goalkeeper Paul Harrison, and the Saints were up against it when Pieros Sotiriou...

Ludogorets out in second qualifying round as APOEL, Malmo advance

APOEL advanced past Macedonia champions Vardar on Tomas De Vincenti's away goal.

The Bulgarian champions lost 2-1 to Milsami of Moldova, falling 3-1 on aggregate.

Wanderson opened the scoring to level the tie in the 27th minute, buut Milsami responded a minute later, and despite a second-half red card to Andrei Cojocari, the hosts found a winner late on through Petru...

Crusaders bowed out of the Champions League at the second qualifying round stage despite a thrilling 3-2 win over Skenderbeu.

The tie was as good as over after a 4-1 first-leg loss, but they were given a window in this one when Renato Arapi was given an 11th-minute red card.

Crusaders then went on to open the scoring, Stephen Flynn on target 50 minutes in.

But the 10 men responded and levelled on the night through Bernard Berisha (69) and went ahead through Liridon Latifi (77).

Ludogorets lose, APOEL held as second round of qualifying begins

Adam Gyurcso's goal was enough for Videoton to defeat TNS in their first leg on Tuesday.

Two of last season's Champions League group-stage underdogs got off to a rough start in the first leg of the second qualifying round on Tuesday.

Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad, who beat Basel and held Liverpool to a draw a year ago, lost at home to Milsami 1-0.

Alexandru Antoniuc scored the only goal for the Moldovan champs in the 41st minute.

Meanwhile, Cypriot champions APOEL, quarterfinalists in 2012, were held to a goalless draw at home by Vardar of Macdeonia.

The news was a little better...
