A 1-0 second-leg victory was not enough to save Cowdenbeath from relegation to Scottish League Two following a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Queen's Park.

Despite Greig Spence's second-half winner, Cowdenbeath paid the price for losing Wednesday's first leg 2-0.

Spence set up a nervy final 36 minutes when he converted from close range, his 18th goal of the season.

But Queen's Park held on and will now face Clyde in the play-off final for a place in Scottish League One.

Chris Duggan scored both goals in a dominant personal display as Queen's Park won the Ladbrokes League One play-off semi-final first leg 2-0 against Cowdenbeath at Hampden Park.

Duggan fired home inside 60 seconds and doubled the lead from the penalty spot in the 66th minute for the League Two team, putting League One Cowdenbeath under severe pressure for Saturday's second leg.

Duggan gave the Spiders a perfect start, curling a shot past Grant Adam from the edge of the box.

Mark McGuigan's solitary strike was enough for Stranraer to seal a Ladbrokes League One play-off place by beating Cowdenbeath 1-0.

Stranraer took the lead three minutes into the second half when McGuigan drilled home after keeper Grant Adam had parried Willie Gibson's effort.

Craig Malcolm twice went close for Stranraer with Greig Spence lashing an effort wide at the other end.

Paul Cairney nearly nudged Stranraer in front as the half-hour approached but, after playing a one-two with Malcolm, his strike...

Alan Cook scored twice as Stenhousemuir boosted their survival hopes by coming from behind to beat fellow Scottish League One strugglers Cowdenbeath 3-1.

Defender Craig Sives put the hosts in front when he headed Jack Beaumont's cross into the bottom-right corner three minutes before the break to claim his first goal for the club.

Midfielder Cook headed the Warriors level in the 69th minute, meeting Jon Robertson's ball to find the roof of Grant Adam's net from inside the penalty area.

Cowdenbeath's recent resurgence continued with a goalless draw against play-off-chasing Albion.

The point extends Cowdenbeath's unbeaten streak to four matches and lifts them three points clear of the relegation zone.

They had goalkeeper Grant Adam to thank after he made three key saves to keep Albion, who are now five points off the top four, at bay.

Adam denied Michael Dunlop either side of half-time and also Alan Reid.
