Swindon strengthened their chance of League One survival with a 3-1 win at Coventry, who are cut adrift from safety at the bottom of the table.

The home side looked strong for the first 20 minutes but failed to take their best chance when Kwame Thomas turned in the box but shot straight into the legs of keeper Lawrence Vigouroux.

Swindon grew into the game and Nicky Ajose certainly came to life.

He shot a 30th-minute free-kick over the bar but made no mistake two minutes later when Ben Gladwin crossed...

Bottom club Coventry secured their first win in 16 league games with a 2-1 win over Gillingham.

Kwame Thomas opened the scoring from close range in the 16th minute after finishing off a neat move between Ryan Haynes, Callum Reilly and Marcus Tudgay.

Russell Slade's men doubled their lead five minutes later as George Thomas intercepted Andy Rose's shot six yards from goal and slotted the ball past Gillingham goalkeeper Stuart Nelson, while Max Ehmer was on target for the visitors.

AFC Wimbledon captain Paul Robinson led by example as his injury-time goal earned his side a 1-1 draw with bottom club Coventry.

After a goalless first half Coventry looked to be heading to a first win in 15 league matches thanks to Jodi Jones' 71st-minute strike.

But in the third minute of injury time, Robinson pounced on a loose ball in the box to dash the visitors' hopes and ensure Wimbledon remain unbeaten at home in seven league games.

The first half was full of blood and thunder and both sides...

Coventry City have signed former Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni on a short-term deal.

The 34-year-old Nigerian, who also had Premier League spells with Portsmouth, Middlesbrough and Blackburn, had been training with Coventry after leaving Turkish club Kayserispor.

Coventry boss Russell Slade told the club's official website: "We're pleased to have secured the signing of Yakubu, who brings vast experience and a terrific goal record.

Coventry suffered their fifth-straight league defeat as they went down 3-2 at fellow strugglers Oldham, who moved out of the relegation zone.

The rock-bottom Sky Blues were punished for defensive errors and have now taken just two points from their last 14 League One outings.

Oldham, who started the day in 21st, led after eight minutes as Ryan Flynn crossed from the right and Coventry defender Kevin Foley horribly miscued his clearance, scoring an own goal from six yards.

The visitors were level just...
