Tony Mowbray signs new deal to remain Coventry manager

Tony Mowbray will remain Coventry coach after signing a new contract.

Coventry boss Tony Mowbray has signed a new two-year deal which will extend his stay with the Sky Blues until at least 2017.

Mowbray joined the League One club on a short-term contract in March and steered them to safety with a run of four defeats in 14 games.

The 51-year-old agreed the deal after extensive talks with the club's owners and board members.

Chief executive Steve Waggott said: "We're absolutely delighted that Tony has signed a long-term contract with the club.

Marcus Tudgay and James Maddison hit second-half goals as Coventry ensured League One survival with a 2-1 victory at Crawley - a result which sentenced the West Sussex club to relegation.

Crawley, who realistically had to win to stand any chance of staying up, were on course to do just that when Mathias Pogba headed them in front just after the break.

But fit-again Tudgay headed Coventry level 17 minutes from time and substitute Maddison settled the issue with the winner in the last minute of normal...

Crewe gave themselves an excellent chance of staving off relegation from Sky Bet League One with a 3-1 away win at relegation rivals Coventry.

Steve Davis had called on his men to end a run of three successive draws and they did just that with two first-half goals as the Sky Blues, who could have ensured safety themselves, meekly surrendered to set up a nerve-jangling last day.

The hosts had started by far the stronger of the two sides and carved out four clear chances inside the first 15 minutes but...

Bristol City secured the Sky Bet League One title following a goalless home draw against Coventry.

A point was enough for Steve Cotterill's team to be sure of top spot, while for Coventry it represented another step towards safety.

Home defender Derrick Williams wasted the best first-half chance when heading over from Luke Freeman's 11th-minute cormer.

But Coventry were lively going forward and home goalkeeper Frank Fielding had to produce a fine diving save to keep out John Fleck's 36th-minute volley...

Coventry City remain in relegation trouble in League One despite salvaging a late goal to draw 1-1 with Oldham.

The Sky Blues had the bulk of the chances in the first half but it was the Latics who went in at half-time ahead.

German striker Nick Proschwitz had a hat-trick of opportunities but was twice denied by Oldham keeper Joel Coleman while John Fleck, Jim O'Brien and Grant Ward were all foiled from long range.

Dean Holden's men had one shot on goal in the opening period and Danny Philliskirk made...
