Southend moved themselves out of League One's bottom four by earning a 2-2 draw at Coventry.

Both sides could have opened the scoring in the first quarter of an hour - a very open 15 minutes that set the tone for the rest of the game.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 34th minute when Coventry made the most of a contentious corner. Adam Armstrong saw his header cleared off the line before Reda Johnson smashed home.

The lead was short-lived as Southend's Noel Hunt headed in from close range from...

James Maddison missing for Coventry City

Coventry are without James Maddison for Monday night's visit of Southend after the youngster was ruled out until January with an ankle injury.

The midfielder suffered the problem in last Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Walsall and could be missing until the new year.

Right-back Jordan Willis also requires an operation on his knee injury and faces two months on the sidelines.

Aaron Phillips will replace Willis and on-loan Jacob Murphy stood in for Maddison and scored their consolation at the Banks's Stadium.

Coventry City fans banned from using their own railway station

After years of upheaval, financial jitters and general disarray, it's perhaps no surprise that attempts to lay on a special, dedicated train service for Coventry City fans has culminated in an expensive farce.

The latest bungle has seen the new multimillion-pound railway station built outside the Ricoh Arena rendered almost utterly useless because trains are "too small" to be used as part of the service they were intended to provide.

Walsall leapfrogged Coventry City into second place in Sky Bet League One by deservedly handing the Sky Blues their first defeat of the season with a 2-1 win at the Banks's Stadium.

Goals by Anthony Forde and Tom Bradshaw had given the Saddlers a two-goal lead before Jacob Murphy pulled one back for Coventry in a thrilling local derby.

In a lively opening, Walsall were first to threaten when Sam Mantom tried his luck from 25 yards, but Lee Burge made a comfortable save.

Jim O'Brien struck late on to give Coventry a 3-2 League One victory over Crewe at the Ricoh Arena.

The home side looked as if they had thrown the chance of victory away when they allowed Crewe to twice come back from behind, but O'Brien's 83rd minute goal kept them top of the table.

John Fleck put the home side in front in the 14th minute and it looked like being the first of many as they piled on the chances with young James Maddison pulling the strings in midfield.

Adam Armstrong, O'Brien, Romain...
