Alexandre Pato interested in January Premier League transfer - sources

With January's transfer window fast approaching, ESPN FC's Alexis Nunes and Shaka Hislop assess the latest round of rumours.

Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato has set his sights on a move to the Premier League when the January transfer window opens, sources have told ESPN FC.

Pato, 26, is expected to leave Corinthians in the New Year with the club willing to sell the former AC Milan star when his loan stay at Sao Paulo ends.

The forward has been on loan at Sao Paulo from Corinthians for the past two seasons, scoring 24 goals and recapturing the form which saw him win a big-money move to AC Milan in 2007.

Vagner Love headed in a late goal to help Corinthians claim a sixth Brasileiro title with three games left to play after a 1-1 draw against Vasco da Gama on Thursday.

The only other challengers, Atletico Mineiro, lost 4-2 at Sao Paulo to allow Corinthians' lead in the table to increase to an insurmountable 12 points.

Despite having a defender sent off early in the second half, Vasco opened the scoring in Rio de Janeiro when defender Julio Cesar found the back of the net in the 66th minute.

Corinthians have dismissed reports that Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Alexandre Pato.

Pato's loan deal with Sao Paulo is due to end next month and he has confirmed he expects to leave Brazil amid reported interest from a host of European sides, including Barcelona and Tottenham.

Alexandre Pato expects to leave Brazil amid Barcelona, Premier League links

Alexandre Pato is due to leave Sao Paulo when his loan from Corinthians expires next month.

Alexandre Pato has said it will be "very difficult" for him to remain in Brazil as he remained coy on his future amid speculation he could join Barcelona or a Premier League club in January.

Corinthians forward Pato, 26, has been on loan at Sao Paulo since 2014 but the deal is due to end next month and he has been linked with clubs including Barca, Tottenham and West Ham.

Corinthians have said they want to sell Pato and the former AC Milan star now appears set for a return to Europe.

Vagner Love's brace helps Corinthians increase Brazilian league lead

Vagner Love shined for Corinthians as they beat Atletico Paranaense 4-1.

Renato Augusto and Vagner Love scored two goals each as Corinthians increased their Brazilian league lead to eight points with a crushing 4-1 win at Atletico Paranaense on Sunday.

Atletico had not won in eight games in the top flight and proved no match for Sao Paulo's Corinthians.

Attacking midfielder Augusto's two goals, either side of a Vagner Love strike, settled the contest by half time. Love added his second in the 62nd minute after a consolation goal from Paranaense midfielder Bruno Mota.
