HARRISON, N.J. -- Aaron Schoenfeld scored twice and the Columbus Crew beat the New York Red Bulls 3-1 on Sunday to move into a third-place tie in the Eastern Conference.

The Crew (13-10-10) moved two points ahead of the Red Bulls (12-10-11) and into a tie with Sporting Kansas City. The No. 3 seed gets a first-round bye in the playoffs, and all three teams remain in contention with one game left.

Next Sunday, the Red Bulls visit Sporting KC, and Columbus hosts the Philadelphia Union. ...

The Columbus crew delivered a crippling blow to the Philadelphia Union's playoff hopes after scoring three unanswered goals and canceling out the Union's initial 2-nil lead.

CHESTER, Pa. -- Ethan Finlay, Justin Meram and Jairo Arrieta scored in a late 5-minute span in the Columbus Crew's 3-2 comeback victory over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night.

Finlay started the flurry in the 78th minute with a one-timer off Hector Jimenez's cross. A minute later, Meram weaved through the defense to even the score, and Arrieta flicked the winner past the goalkeeper in the 82nd.
