NEW YORK -- Toronto FC's Damien Perquis, Columbus Crew's Federico Higuain, New England's Kelyn Rowe and Real Salt Lake's Demar Phillips have been fined by MLS for infractions.

Kaka leads Orlando City SC into the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals

Orlando City cruised past the Columbus Crew and into the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals on the back of goals by skipper Kaka and young Colombian Carlos Rivas.

Kaka and Carlos Rivas helped Orlando City SC to a 2-0 victory over a second-string Columbus Crew in Tuesday night's U.S. Open Cup round-of-16 matchup.

Orlando's decision to field their first-choice XI paid off with Darwin Ceren setting up Kaka for the home team's opener in the 21st minute, before Rivas made sure of the victory with an excellent strike 13 minutes later.

The Crew, who started with nine changes from the team that drew 2-2 with Real Salt Lake on Saturday, were unable to work their way...

New York Cosmos send New York City FC crashing out of the U.S. Open Cup

The New York Cosmos pulled off a major upset by beating New York City FC on penalties after the match finished 2-2 in the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday.

N.Y.C.F.C. looked to have the game settled thanks to two first half goals from Kwadwo Poku, but the Cosmos -- who ply their trade in the North American Soccer League -- retaliated after the break. Leo Fernandes struck in the 65th minute and then Lucky Mkosana netted a goal in the 90th minute, forcing the game into extra time and, ultimately, penalty...

Seattle Sounders smash FC Dallas to move back to the MLS summit

While FC Dallas started the brighter, it was the Seattle Sounders who scored three unanswered goals to claim all three points at home.

Lamar Neagle, Obafemi Martins and Leo Gonzalez all scored in the second half as the Seattle Sounders beat FC Dallas 3-0 on Saturday night to move back atop the MLS standings.

Late in the 55th minute, Neagle took a pass from Brad Evans, went to the left side of the penalty area and drilled a 20-yard shot into the far right corner past goalkeeper Dan Kennedy for his third goal of the year.

Martins, who entered in the 61st minute and wore a facemask to protect his surgically repaired broken nose, made...

NYCFC, Impact both end long winless streaks with victories

New York City FC came from behind to defeat the Philadelphia Union 2-1, courtesy of a late second half goal from Patrick Mullins.

Patrick Mullins scored in the 87th minute to lift New York City FC past the Philadelphia Union 2-1 on Saturday, ending the expansion club's winless streak at 11 games.

NYCFC hadn't won since their home opener against the New England Revolution on March 15.

Mullins followed Jeb Brovsky's throw-in as it rolled into the 18-yard box, shielding defenders to line up his shot. His left-footed strike deflected off the back of defender Richie Marquez's leg and skirted just inside the right post.
