DC United put three goals past Columbus in the final 20 minutes, putting themselves in great position in the playoff hunt.

Lloyd Sam opened the scoring in the 71st minute, Lamar Neagle had a late goal and assist, and D.C. United beat Columbus Crew SC 3-0 on Wednesday night to earn consecutive victories for the first time this season.

United States to host Mexico in Columbus, Ohio, to open Hex

ESPN FC's Ross Dyer breaks down all the latest news of American footballers abroad, with Christian Pulisic headlining.

The United States will host Mexico in November's World Cup qualifier in Columbus, Ohio.

The Nov. 11 game at Columbus Crew SC's MAPFRE Stadium will open the fifth and final round of CONCACAF qualifying, known as the "Hex."

Columbus has been the site for every U.S. home game against Mexico in the Hex since 2001. The U.S. won the four games in 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013 -- all by a score of 2-0.

The results have extended American fans' popular chant of "dos a cero," which began after the U.S.'s 2-0 win...

NYCFC rallies for draw vs. FC Dallas; Jordan Morris' late goal lifts Sounders

Khiry Shelton's 78th-minute goal earned NYCFC a point against Supporters' Shield contenders FC Dallas.

Khiry Shelton scored in the 78th minute to help New York City FC salvage a 2-2 draw with MLS-leading FC Dallas 2-2 on Saturday night.

NYCFC moved to within a point of Eastern Conference-leading Toronto FC, but Frank Lampard left the game in the 42nd minute after going to the turf and holding his left calf.

The former Chelsea star has scored 12 goals this season after missing the first two and a half months of the season with an injury to the same muscle.

"He's a sensible professional," NYCFC coach...

Toronto FC beats Fire to leap over NYCFC into first place in the East

Eastern Conference rivals squared off in Chicago with the Canadian's swiping the points away from home.

Jozy Altidore had a goal and an assist and Toronto FC beat the Chicago Fire 2-1 on Saturday night to move into first place in the Eastern Conference.

Altidore opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, finishing Justin Morrow's cross from the middle of the area.

The U.S. striker then assisted on Jonathan Osorio's goal in the 52nd minute, blocking Sean Johnson's errant throw-out so Osorio could send back an easy chip shot past the out-of-position goalkeeper.

Altidore has six goals in his past eight games...
