Giovinco returns for first-place TFC; Revs' Kamara faces former team

Sebastian Giovinco
Toronto FC weathered the storm without playmaker Sebastian Giovinco and will be that much stronger upon his return.

With the playoff picture starting to take shape, it's crunch time for teams hoping to sneak in and those looking to secure top seeds. Jason Davis takes a look around the league in the Week 29 edition of MLS W2W4.

Giovinco returns to first-place TFC

United States to host Mexico in Columbus, Ohio, to open Hex

ESPN FC's Ross Dyer breaks down all the latest news of American footballers abroad, with Christian Pulisic headlining.

The United States will host Mexico in November's World Cup qualifier in Columbus, Ohio.

The Nov. 11 game at Columbus Crew SC's MAPFRE Stadium will open the fifth and final round of CONCACAF qualifying, known as the "Hex."

Columbus has been the site for every U.S. home game against Mexico in the Hex since 2001. The U.S. won the four games in 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013 -- all by a score of 2-0.

The results have extended American fans' popular chant of "dos a cero," which began after the U.S.'s 2-0 win...

A host of draws ensured there were no big shake-ups in our Major League Soccer Power Rankings after Week 30. The New York Red Bulls lost a lead at Toronto FC but move up a spot at the expense of the Colorado Rapids, who can't seem to remember how to score goals.

1. Toronto FC (no change)
TFC fell behind by two goals at home against the New York Red Bulls, but as long as they have Jozy Altidore (eight goals in his last nine matches) they can't be counted out. Their 3-3 draw proved as much.

NYCFC rallies for draw vs. FC Dallas; Jordan Morris' late goal lifts Sounders

Khiry Shelton's 78th-minute goal earned NYCFC a point against Supporters' Shield contenders FC Dallas.

Khiry Shelton scored in the 78th minute to help New York City FC salvage a 2-2 draw with MLS-leading FC Dallas 2-2 on Saturday night.

NYCFC moved to within a point of Eastern Conference-leading Toronto FC, but Frank Lampard left the game in the 42nd minute after going to the turf and holding his left calf.

The former Chelsea star has scored 12 goals this season after missing the first two and a half months of the season with an injury to the same muscle.

"He's a sensible professional," NYCFC coach...
